Ate dinner here during recent business trip. Food was excellent! Grape leaves for appetizers were great. Lamb kebab was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Rice pudding a bit sweet, Turkish coffee a bit small for price. Will return to this fine restaurant!

Absolutely love this restaurant. We have visited it with my husband on many occasions and have introduced it to our friends. Now they love it as much as we do. We have tried many dishes and were never disappointed. Good service as well.

We went to this restaurant on Feb. 11, 2012 with friends who had wanted to go for some time. We were visiting from out of town. We really enjoyed the food, to me, it is somewhat like mediterranean or Greek food- it had humus, pita bread, kabobs, but with a different accent of course since it is Turkish.
The five of us shared the sampler dish for 3, I highly recommend this as you can taste so many of the different flavours . We also chose some of the other dishes as well. Everything comes with its own unique taste adn presentation, I would go back in a minute if we lived in Edmonton.

My husband surprised me with a visit to this unknown restaurant...at least unknown to us, but not unknown to others who have raved about the place.

We are joining our rave with the rest of the raves. Sofra offers outstanding food and service at reasonable prices.

Sofra is a little hard to find until you realize that it is just across the street from the Grant McEwan College towers, right on the corner of 106 Street and 104 Avenue.

The decor is clever and unassuming...with multi-levels...filled with simple hand-aged tables and deep chairs. Alie was our server, a pleasant, knowledgeable girl with a ready smile and quick service.

The menu items looked very familiar...versions of Greek food that we always enjoy like rice wrapped in grape leaves, but with different names. Alie was there to translate.

We decided to try the Sultan's Sofrasi ($75 for two) It's a sampler (very generous servings) of flaky pita bread with yummy, garlicky humus, rice wrapped in grape leaves (a sweet surprise inside: raisins), grilled vegetables, baby greens salad with honey mustard dressing, bulgar pilaf, and 4 types of meats: beef, chicken, lamb, hamburger.

Everything was delicious, but the winner of the evening was the Izagara Kofte (spicy meat patties)...tender and delicious...and seasoned so tastefully. We could easily have eaten an entire meal of just those little patties, they were that good.

A dry house red wine served in a long-bowled, tall-stemmed glass went perfectly with 4 pieces of baklava - a flaky, nutty treat bathed in sweet honey.

Service was exemplary, even though Alie had a number of customers to serve. Food was served speedily. New dishes arrived in perfect time.

Sofra opens daily at 5 PM, but make a reservation. These quaint and cozy places have a lot of regulars. How do I know? We will now be regulars, too. :)

There is good parking on the street.

Enjoy!

Yuksel and Chandra have done a rare thing. The food - Lamb chops, steak ,chicken Shish (my favorites) - is consistently exceptional every time. We try to go at least once a month. In my top 5 for sure.
