Description: Bottlescrew Bill’s has been serving Calgary’s largest selection of craft beer since it opened in 1985. Currently, over 300 different beers are on the menu, ranging from local Alberta-grown craft beer to national & international brands and everything in between. Located on the site of the old Calgary Press Club, on the corner of 10th Avenue and 1st Street SW; it is right behind the Calgary Tower and a short walk from several downtown hotels. Buzzards Restaurant (EST. 1980) is a part of Bottlescrew Bill’s and serves the same menus. In the summer, a large covered patio stretches around the south and west side of both the restaurant and the pub, while an enclosed and heated Beer Garden offers year-round seating at the back of the pub. We are very proud of our food, and our full menu is available until 1:30 am Monday through Saturday. Completely renovated in 2011 & 2012, there are four separate rooms, each with it’s own character. All rooms and patios are available for group bookings!

I do not know the whole story - ( or I just do not remember it after a night at the place) but some fairly large oilfeild was named after the place.

Yes that's the kind of place it is you do not know if the person next to you is a bum or the owner of a oil company.

What you do know is that they like beer and do not stand on formality.

Of particular note is the last few years they have had a local and quite good 60's hair band called Shots Fired in at Halowen which is a lot of fun.

Somehow I'd always overlooked this restaurant, but on two recent visits was impressed by it. The beer listing is impressive and the servers seem to know their beers. The food menu is also appealing and the food good.

Did you know that one of the largest oil feilds ever discovered in the north sea was named after this place?

After over 30 yeas in operation the place has great stories attached to it.

Another must do is attending the annual testical festival held every summer and enjoying the so called "prairie oysters" featured. (Prairie Oysters are what's left over after you change a bull calf into a steer). The Globe and Mail wrote up attending this festival as one of the 15 things you must do in Canada before you die.

Highly reccomended

I came here very often during 2010 and early 2011. The main reason was the close proximity of my hotel and the very good selection of beers from around the world. They serve, to a great extent, traditional pub food. Generally, the service is okay, however, in my experience, there is a great turnover of waiters. The food is very average. The TVs are too small vs. today’s standards. I stopped coming in early 2011 as I expected better food. There are so many very good restaurants in Calgary. I recommend this restaurant for the beer selection only. If you are looking for a hard to find beer, they probably have it.

We had a nice dinner here. The place busy cozy and already quite busy at around 17:30.

We shared some buffalo sliders as a starter, these where very good and well made!

My wife had the Sirloin which wasn't very big but it was well cooked and included some nice veggies. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was terrific, especially the homemade chutney that was on it!

They have a very fine selection of beers to choose from. Service was good and friendly.
