Snuggled into Prince Island Park, we walked over to the River Cafe on a bit of a snowy day to be welcomed into an environment of warmth and a cozy wood fire burning. A definate must - everything was absolutely amazing, service, food and environment. I truly enjoyed the tuna and would highly recommend it!!

My favorite place to dine in Calgary is River Cafe. It is located in a beautiful park area in downtown Calgary, with the river flowing just a few steps away. It has the absolute best patio during the summer and in the colder months there is a cozy wood-burning fireplace to welcome you.

My last visit to River Cafe was just a couple weeks ago. The food was again wonderful and the service was great too. Its a nice quiet place to have a leisurely dinner, either with that special someone or with great friends.

We went there for a nice dinner with some friends before the rush of the Christmas season. The walk from Eau Claire was beautiful with the Christmas lights and new snow. The wine list was great and the waiter was fantastic. But then our dinner came. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but not worth the price. Just because you add a little fancy garnish on it doesn't turn a $20 dish to a $45 dish.

From the online menu, looks like it would be a better value for lunch, not supper. I'd go again, just if someone else is buying.

Came here with my mom for brunch the other day, was our first time and we really enjoyed it. It is a bit of a walk but the scenery is beautiful (even in winter!) The decor is rustic and fits in with the surrounding trees and river. We had the fish and game board which was very delicious! I find these so much fun because they're so interactive and the server was very knowledgeable about each dish. Also had the honey apple crisp flatbread which was really good. Looking forward to going back!

The location on princes island is key to this restaurant, though its amazing in summer can be a bit cumbersome to get to in winter as you cant park that close and so some walking is inevitable. That being said, River cafe scores across the board. We have eaten here about a dozen times and not disappointed once, and that has been for brunch, lunch, dinner and once even just for desserts and drinks. The brunch really is one of the best, even in a city like Calgary where breakfast restaurants are not underrepresented. Its definitely different than diner deluxe or OEB though, so if you want good quality diner hit those up, but if you are looking for something a little more elegant this is the place. The pastry basket (last time was a basil croissant, pumpkin spice muffin and pear strudel, all of which were amazing) is always a good deal, and the maple rosemary lemonade is a delicious start. Even though I am not a quiche fan, the mushroom, leek and nostrala quiche is one of the best I have ever had. And with their dinner, the duck and the halibut are our usuals and always top notch. The use of local produce is just a plus and the menu has some seasonality to it which is always a good thing. The patio is amazing in summer, but the cabin feel is great in winter, so it really is worth the trek.
