Description: MINAS Brazilian Steakhouse is named after the southern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, where executive chef and owner Jose Montes hails from. This state is known all over the country as the heart of the most authentic Brazilian cuisine, such as feijoada, pão de queijo, and feijão tropeiro. During a traditional dining experience at MINAS, the barbecue is served tableside on skewers, in the classic rodizio style by our passadores (carvers) and accompanied by the most traditional Brazilian dishes. MINAS provides great service by qualified and willing staff, presented in a lively ambience. We serve satisfying portions that never leave our guests hungry. Most of the food is cooked in our open kitchen (the latest trend in the dining experience) with high quality meats prepared fresh and in front of guests. Our Iguarías (hot and cold gourmet sides) offers tasty, instant, and varied options. We cook and serve in traditional dishes, such as handmade soap stone pots, brought from Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais. Chef Montes has brought his Brazilian pride, training, and generational knowledge of cuisine and barbecue right to downtown Calgary. Over the last 25 years, he has honed his skills in preparing high-quality meats and food in the traditional Brazilian style. He has successfully built the reputation of several restaurants in five different countries, on three different continents: Brazil, Japan, China, the United States, and Canada. He now uses that extensive experience at his own Brazilian restaurant.

A friend recommended me this place and I am very thankful for that. The place is great and the food is delicious. We went for the weekend brunch and I really recommend it. Most of the information can be found on their web page so that’s another point for them. Obrigado por tudo e tomara que possa ir mais uma vez!

Not your usual eggs and bacon fare: lotsa meat, superb cuts of beef and pork prepared with brazilian know-how, succulent and multitude of salads and desserts for those of us with a lighter fare in mind. For our little one's birthday, a lovely display of fruits and cream and sparkler, she will remember. Very courteous staff, all ingredients well presented and so freshly prepared.

We heard about Minas from a commercial on Shine FM. Curious to see if it would fit for our anniversary dinner, we checked review sites. Most people are correct - Minas is a very good dining experience. It is up there with Gauchos.

We ended up getting there about 25 minutes early, and were seated right away. Within a couple of minutes, our server brought us the wine we ordered. We started with the salad / hot food bar. There was a good selection of items, which were replenished regularly, including some awesome shrimp, ceviche and marinated salmon.

A minute or so after we sat back down, the meats started arriving! What can I say? YUM! Beef cooked at least 5 ways, 3 types of chicken, 2 types of sausage, pork loin with a spicy sauce, and perfectly cooked lamb. Oh, and BBQ pineapple! That's what I can say! We were never rushed. When our plates were full of meat, we simply turned our cards over, from green (BRING ON THE MEATS!) to red (enough for now). There were also traditional meat stews and other selections on the hot buffet.

I think we waddled home.

Overall, this was a lovely experience.
