“Poor service ruined decent yet expensive meal at snobby joint, be prepared to pay for water”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

We were a party of 7 women (high earning good looking women in their 30s) there for a birthday celebration. We were told by the manager we would be 'well taken care of' when we arrived, but our experience was quite the contrary. We were seated at the back of the restaurant instead of the fireplace fancy table which was booked for two weeks by us and confirmed 3 days earlier. We waited 1 hr 10 min before they came to take our order and before they brought bread and butter to us! They charged $9+tax+tip for water. Free tap water is not an option and there was no warning about charging us. Their only good service was the water service, of course so they could charge us for water that comes from a special 'filtration' system they have. (Sounds like a scam to me and a great return on investment for them).
We asked the waiter to explain the difference between two entrees and what they came with and he said "you can read it on the menu" and ran his finger patronizingly along the text on the menu. There was no mention of specials for the evening. Apparently the waiter didn't want to help with any questions about the food. The manager later was seen making out with a woman at the bar.
The food was nice, except for the dry bread that came with the fondue. There is now no decent chocolate dessert on the menu.
Note, these people running this restaurant are a joke. If the owners knew I'm sure they'd be upset. We were told 7pm was the latest they'd accept a reservation and that 7:15pm would be too late. So then why after having arrived on time did they wait to take our order till after 8pm?

“Outdated”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Reminded me of other venues trying, very poorly, for a certain type of ambience. Very 1980's or earlier, this establishment needs to come into the 21st century.

“Top 5 in Calgary for favorites.”

Where to start, seafood appy platter-Amazing-Amazing price, amazing food, interesting etc etc, 10 out of 10
Steak tar tar, never had it before, always thought it was gross, cant get enough of it at this place, made at table. We always have the same server/ host, I think he is either the manager or very involved some how, but always there to assist and discuss food and options, has suggestions, just makes you feel looked after.
Deserts there, wine, the fire places in the summer. I haven't had one bad thing. Oh ya fondus, Love this place. Great for dates, dinners, snacks. cozy fire side chats. LOVE this place.

“Good food, bad service”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

We were a group of 9 and had a reservation for our Christmas celebration. A large group usually inspires a waitress to work hard, knowing there will likely be a great tip for her. This was not the case for us! Our waitress was condescending, rude and slow with service. Everyone felt that she took away from our dinner.
The food was good - I really enjoyed the beef tar tar, Brie appie and the meat sharing platter.

“Service at the end Ruined Dining Experience”
Reviewed December 19, 2012 via mobile

We came here for dinner and were given a gift certificate as a gift. The server was friendly enough at the beginning but nothing extraordinary. The food was okay. We ordered 2 fish dishes and found it was alright but tasted a bit salty and overpriced. At the end we paid with a $100 gift certificate, paid the remainder with a credit card and left a 25% tip on the entire bill. When paying the server saw the amount and immediately his attitude turned unfriendly and it seemed like it was because we hadn't tipped enough. It completely ruined our dining experience. Not even a thank you or have a good night from him. Just "here's your card back". As someone in the service industry I was appalled and will not return not recommend it.
