The amazing experience with the hospitality of the staff make up for the basic decor of this place. It is a family restaurant so don't expect a quite romantic atmosphere. There are kids doing kid-things, noise and general happy family sounds. All good with us but some may not like it. The food was good, basic chinese fare. We ordered off the menu to be sure we were ordering MSG free items since we have a family member who is not able to eat MSG. The server told us they do not add MSG to their food but some of the sauces they use has MSG in it. When we ordered he was able to advise us of which was OK and then made the suggestion that they will cook some of the food seperate for my daughter-in-law with different sauces. We were wondering how that would work and were happy that they brought a plate of food for the 3 of us and a seperate plate for her. Essentially they cooked 2 meals for our table with no extra charge. We were impressed and my daughter-in-law said her food was very good - with no headaches later on! The only thing that was a bit "off" was that the booth we sat in looked like a food fight had happened in it. The tables and chairs were clean but the wall beside needed a bit of a wash - possible one of the happy kids got carried away with the plum sauce??? We did not notice it till the interior lights were adjusted for the late timem of the day. I mentioned it to the server when we left and they were very apologetic and said if they knew they would not have sat us there and that they would clean it as soon as they closed that day.
