“Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2010

I always thought Divino was a good spot until a couple of weeks ago. The service is pretentious as beer comes in a sleeve but not a pint. Over priced, for example $13 for a gin and tonic. But most of all the food was not worth the price.

The meals were late and sat under the warming lights too long. $36 for lamb that was more medium than rare. Food that tasted like it was microwaved. Complained to the manager but she did not care.

I would not recommend Divino as there are many places on 8 avenue and I sure some of them care about the food and service.

“One of the best restaurants in the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2009

Simply one of the best restaurants in Calgary, good for a romantic dinner or entertaining customers (I've done both here). The wine selection is award winning. The room is wonderful: open kitchen, exposed brick and stone. Strong bistro style menu, ranging from good soups and salads (Lyonnaise salad is a favorite), pastas, to meat and fish mains. The tempura green beans as a side are especially tasty. Make sure to finish with a cheese plate - only Farm in Calgary can compete with Divino's cheese selection. Year over year one of my favorite restaurants.

“wine great -cheese portions tiny!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2009

Nice atmosphere - great selection of wines and cheeses - just dont expect ploughman size portions like I did - more like a tasting menu...service was rather slow.
Check out the dubious toilet (sorry - restroom )door handles...

“our favorite restaurant in Calgary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2008

This is our favorite restaurant in Calgary, my wife and I go there often. The food is excellent--really bursting with flavor, which distinguishes Divino from many of its competitors. While it's not cheap it's good value for money by Calgary standards, and clearly beats many of its more expensive competitors on this score. As the name suggests, they have a wonderful and varied wine list. Service is friendly and professional, though food sometimes does come a bit slowly (though never so much that we've really minded). The room looks great with exposed brick along one wall and an open kitchen, and has a nice energetic urban buzz without being loud. Highly recommended.
