“Average Calgary restaurant”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

I used to go to Earl's often, often when travelling around Canada, because the menu and service is fairly standardized. As I have ventured into upper-scale restaurants over the years, though, I have found Earl's to be a safe option to go to when I am too lazy to try new places. The warm potato side-salad is really good! They do not accept reservations, which is a turn-off on a Friday night when the wait can be 45minutes or more.

“Food is okay, when you can get a table, service is terrible”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

Had to wait 45 minutes for a table...but not bad as there was space at the bar. The interesting part was that the lineup lasted for over an hour after we were seated, yet there was never less than 3 empty tables (of different sizes) in our section. I had a view of the waiting area and we had some fun watching how long people sat there before they finally were seated (at the empty tables in our section).

There were 6 of us, and 20 minutes after putting in our dinner order, they informed us that one persons meal was not available. The manager came over and stated "I am going to turn this night around for you and make this right" A bottle of complimentary wine did show up, but his claim to come back and check up with us never transpired. Our server appeared very new and inexperienced. We had to ask for cutlery as there was not enough at the table. The server brough some, then disappeared so we had to flag down another server to get the rest of the cutlery.

Overall, not a great experience, and yes, they do call this Earl's. Earl's Tin Palace due to the noise level. It is generally an okay place, but that night was not.

“Good Food, Lot's of People”
Reviewed December 29, 2011

Had a very long wait. 45 minutes, after being told 20 minutes. Food was surprisingly good and nice wine selection. Keep your party small for good service.

“A complete night-out experience”
Reviewed November 1, 2011

Looking for a great meal with friends surrounded by a wonderful atmosphere? If so then come to this Earl's location. The menu features a variety of cuisine choices along with a great dessert selection. The staff was very prompt and helpful in recommending menu items, along with description of preparations and ingredients.

“Bad by any standard.”
Reviewed September 19, 2011

Went with a a group from work, 12 in all. They had set up a collection of round tables for us to sit at. This not only didn't work but just made the whole experience a lot more awkward.

Food wa mediocre at best. Most had steaks and the only ones pleased were those who asked for it well done. They were all pretty well done.

Our server really didn't have a clue. Couldn't remember who had ordered what and proceeded to hand people burning hot plates that had to then be handed about the table to find the right owner.

They had run out of several beers as well.

Have been to Earls on other cities an it's not normally as bad as this one. A shame.
