I have stayed here with few friends. We were looking for affordable accomodation in Calgary and found this place. To be honest, this place was better than we expected. The rooms were really spacious and clean. I could definitely reccomend this place.

At $93 a night, the price was right. Yes, the hotel is old and dated and very "no frills", however for our purposes it worked very well. We even had a separate bedroom in our room, and when traveling as a family of four sharing one hotel room, that extra space made a big difference. Very convenient location, and the kids enjoyed the pool. Continental breakfast was limited but sufficient.

We are glad that you found the rooms to be spacious and allowed for enough room for your family. We do have a few rooms with the separate bedroom (a couple of rooms with 2 queen beds and a couple of rooms with 3 queen beds) - these rooms are especially popular with families or workers. The main disadvantage to our breakfast is the small area we have to work with. It is very helpful in the summer as many people choose to eat breakfast by our pool or on our outdoor patio. Our breakfast consists of an variety of pastries, toast, bagels, toaster waffles cereal, fruit, juice and coffee, usually allowing everyone to get a bit of a start to their day...

After a long day at Heritage Park, it was the just to spot to hang our cowboy hats. Nothing fancy, just a travelling spot. Sandwiched between Boston Pizza and McDonald's, there was no driving in the car to find dinner. The swimming pool was ok for my swimmer but other parents would not have found it so convenient. No real shallow end...suited to a taller crowd. Breakfast buffet was plain and suited my grandson well. Shared tables with other visitors, the fun part of travelling.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review that will assist others with their travel choices.
Motel Village does offer lots of restaurant choices for families and for those that are happy to just park their car and relax. Our pool (outdoor) starts at 4 ft. and deepens to 6 ft..... for small children it can be a little deep; however we find almost all small kids are in water wings or some type of floation/security device. We hope to see you again in the near future.

OK, I didn't want to pay too much just for one night (arriving late from airport and leaving early to go to Drumheller), but really, a hotel MUST be clean to receive clients. Some other travellers say it's dated (and it is), but I say that GREY walls (were they ever white?), fingerprints on and around the doors, and a kind-of-slimy carpet, is not what I call dated : the cleaning is way overdue.

I stayed in another 2-star hotel in Banff and it was alright, so I think it's possible to offer a low-cost hotel that is welcoming.

Breakfast was OK and front desk staff were kind.

I am sorry that your stay with us was no to your standards at all. We have very high standards for our cleaning conditions and each and every one of our rooms is checked prior to being released for the day. Our building is older; however our policy of clean rooms and friendly staff are the first steps to providing our guests a pleasant and comfortable stay. Cleanliness in an accommodation setting is vital to success in this industry. The Housekeeping Dept. has worked very hard in the last couple of years to achieve their award and keep working at in hopes to maintain the positive recognition for a job well done. I apologize that you found this motel to be unacceptable for your travel requirements.

It is a typical motel. The facilities are basic and fairly dated. It is nevertheless good value during the Calgary Stampede when rates of most places double. The Wifi is very patchy unless you are at the reception.

Breakfast is included but offered at the small, cluttered reception. It is not very pleasant during breakfast time when you feel you almost run the risk of knocking off of someone's coffee or tea in that crowded space.

Thank you for your feedback. I realize that the breakfast area is very small. As an older building from the 50's - a breakfast room was not put into the plans. We are thankful for mornings during our busy season(summer) where the weather cooperates and allows people to sit outside at our 5 tables in from of the office or by the pool area. We provide trays as well for all those that would prefer to return to their room for added comfort. The problem with the WIFI has not been an issue in the past - even when there is alot of registered guests using the system at the same time. I will look into the situation... I usually routinely check the speed and accessability from different locations in the building and we operate with 2 routers to ensure the building is fully covered.

After reading the reviews for this hotel, we were pleasantly surprised.
Yes it is old and dated, but the location is good and our room (3 queens) was HUGE! we were 6 girls getting ready for a stag and there were mirrors and plug-ins for us all!

We were pleased to receive a call from the front desk shortly after we checked in, making sure everything was o.k.

Can't comment on the breakfast as we slept past it (got in pretty late and the hotel was quiet)
Great location.

My only negative would be the carpets are pretty dirty- they need a good shampoo- when we got back in the evening and took our heels off, our feet got pretty black walking around and we noticed some unattractive stains.

Thank you for providing feedback to assist other travellers with their accommodation choices. Your honest critique is muchly appreciated. All of our rooms were shown to have been carpet cleaned prior to the start of the summer season - this concerns me as this room is in need of attention. Thank you for choosing Canadas Best Value Inn and hopefully we see you again in the future.

Great location, just 5 mins to the train which took us straight to the stampede. Room was fine, bed comfortable and clean, slightly outdated but not bad, aircon was really only a fan, it was too hot. Breakfast was fine, very quiet considering the location.
