I love this place. I live in Calgary so I can go all year round. Going for the world-class competitions is fantastic but I also go when nothing is happening. The grounds are beautiful and it's very quiet. I love how everyone there is so friendly. I think you can assume that they are just rich, snooty people but I've never encountered that. I walk around the barns and say hello to the horses. If someone is there with their horse, they always smile and say hi. They hold a Christmas Craft fair in November which is lovely.
When you go for a horse show, the value is exceptional. You pay a small amount for parking but after that, a lot of stuff is free. For the big events in the main ring, there are tickets you can buy to get an assigned seat. However, lots of people come early, scope out a place with a blanket and they're set for the day. The action is up-close and always exciting. The grounds and jumps are immaculate. If anyone in your family/group is a horsey person, this is a must see!
