Dinner at this restaurant over the holidays and we really enjoyed it. Very interesting menu, Latin themed with several dishes from Argentina for example. The mixed grill plate (can't remember the official name) was really good. Combination of sausage, beef, chicken, shrimp, all barbequed perfectly with some very good flavors. The ceviche appetizer sea food was also very good. The entre was expensive (by far the most expensive dish on the menu) but we really enjoyed it. They have live music some evenings, and it seems like a comfortable place. We will be going back.

We had heard about Sabroso through John Gilchrist on CBC. The wing-shaped room has a warm ambiance and a view of 14th street nearby. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We made a note to come back on a night when they offer live music. As it was, the recorded latin music that accompanied our Sunday night dinner reminded us of happy times in Mexico.

The food was very tasty. My companion had a beef anticucho appetizer in a delicious sauce that she really enjoyed. I loved the chicken and black bean soup, which was slightly spicy and had a delightful texture from embedded tostito fragments, as we have enjoyed in Mexico. Perfect on a cold night.

My main course was a seared tuna, which was perfectly cooked, pink on the inside and accompanied by a wonderful melon relish with a hint of onion.

We shared the banana churros with dark chocolate sauce for dessert, which were fantastic: crisp and neither too greasy nor too sweet. This was a great meal and we well definitely return to Sabroso.

We, two couples, had a dinner reservation for a Wednesday at 6:00 PM. Upon arrival they did not have the reservation, said they had just implemented a new system, however they did have a table for us. There were two other people in the restaurant when we arrived at our table. The server reviewed the short wine list as many were out of stock. Thought the wines were overpriced, had a bottle anyway. Ordered salad and the main course. We all ordered the Jicama and orange salad. One salad had no jicama so we asked for jicama. The way the server reacted one would have thought this was an expensive item. He finally did bring some jicama. Salad overpriced. Then the server advised the person who had ordered chicken that they didn’t have any suitable chicken, so she chose snapper from the limited menu. We are the second customers of the evening and they don’t have chicken! Took a long time for the main course to arrive. Small portions, food OK, not worth going back for. Then one person ordered a dessert and the server convinced me to have the Yucca pie. My pie never showed up. Asked for the bill, paid by credit card and the “card reader” device was slow and we had to hold it up in the air to access the router. There was only the one server so he was rushed and somewhat harried. Unsatisfactory experience

The Sabroso Restaurant - Cucina Latino says it all. The food is fresh, seasoned to perfection and plated with elegance. The menu is not extensive, however the dishes that we tried were truly fabulous. Personal service and attention to detail make this a must for date night! Or just a night out. Live music on Friday and Saturday night with a Latino flair. Close your eyes and you can be anywhere in South America. 5 stars

Went there with some family and friends, the food was adequate; mojitos, churros, atmosphere, live music and service were excellent. So why am I only giving 3 stars? The food...it just didn't do it for me, and probably won't go back because of it.
