Calgary really must have issues when they continue to list art statues as attractions for visitors to come see!!

Really let you know that the city that you are visiting is a dud with nothing really to see!!

Calgary advert should be come see our basic city art since we have nothing to offer!! Great way of promoting the city!!

This sculpture/public art display is simply fascinating. The white, three storey tall sculpture contrasts with the black colour of the Bow building which is itself a stunning piece of architecture. Even from a distance the sculpture captures your attention. It is definitely worth taking it in person. It is interactive as well as you can go inside the sculpture to peer though the mesh, giving you an interesting perspective of the surroundings.

Me and my family popped here and it was an amazing structure. A great quick bit of fun and silly pictures.

'Wonderland' by Jaume Plensa is the newest installation in the downtown core and the latest attraction now finding a home at The BOW.

Many come to visit the piece since its unveiling, and I'm glad to see it being appreciated, as it should be.

I first saw Wonderland on a cool, cloudy afternoon in late April. It is a striking three-storey (12 m) tall wire frame sculpture of a young girl’s head located on the main plaza on the south (concave) side The Bow building. I was reminded of Alice from the Lewis Carroll books, just as the sculpture’s title suggests. As a photographer, I just had to take pictures from every angle, which took me about 20 minutes. I especially loved the fact that I was able to actually walk inside the sculpture and take photos from inside the head. Very cool! It’s definitely a very popular attraction – there was a steady stream of people were stopping by and taking photos of the art.

Created by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, Wonderland was unveiled in January 2013, and is one of two Plensa sculptures commissioned for this building; the second one is not yet complete. (Buildings in Calgary are allowed to build to extra height if they include significant works of public art.) Although Plensa and his team designed the sculpture, it was created in Calgary following their plans and specifications.

I suggest listening to “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane on your iPod while inside the sculpture..
