The food was excellent- the eggplant chips and chickpea fritters being favorites. The restaurant is very well designed and super cool and sleek inside. Incredible top notch service with the owner stopping by to see how our meal was!

Also, a cocktail list that was pretty enjoyable!

Enjoyed our evening here - decent tapas, broad selection, lots of gluten free items, wine list was fabulous.

Stopped by for lunch on Saturday, place was empty. Had calamari to begin, followed by vietnamese sub and lobster salad. Nice to see a different presentation of calamari; it wasn't the usual deep fried. Flavours were good but there wasn't much calamari. The sandwich and salad were both quite good and fresh. Overall good experience, especially for the suburbs.

The New Vin Room has potential - its a beautiful space, with a great ambience. One design flaw was that if you are seated on the west side of the restaurant, you either have to walk a long way to get to the washrooms or you walk right through the very busy pickup window area.
Service, while friendly enough, was uneven. We ordered a cheese and charcuterie plate to start, and it arrived fairly quickly... followed by a huge lull. Our group of 4 ordered 8 sharing plates. Again, 3 or 4 arrived, followed by a ridiculously long lull - we were sitting with dirty empty plates on our table for a good half hour, when the final bunch of items arrived all at once.
The food: nothing we ate was wonderful. The flank steak, the scallops, and the lamb meatballs were all quite tasty and well prepared. The lobster nachos was really disappointing. Shrimps were perfectly cooked, but boring, The Calamari was downright weird- with a very small amout of calamari being overpowered by bacon, and lots of peas and mushy carrots. It seemed like this dish had been sitting for a long time under a heat lamp - the mint in it was black and stringy. The seasonal veg. were beets and really mushy overcooked squash, as boring as my moms home cooking. (sorry mom). And finally, the falafel were like lead.
And here is my biggest gripe/suggestion for improvement. Since these plates are meant for sharing, how about serving them with some cutlery. We probably could have asked for some but by the time we realized the problem, our server was no where to be found and we were hungry. So there we were trying to portion out things with our own cutlery, which we had already eaten from. I had a cold, so I was being particularly conscious of trying not to contaminate everyone elses food.
So overall, a great place to go for a glass of wine, but I would not recommend this for a dining experience. And stay away from the veggies and Calamari.

Been here downtown and loved it. Tonight at the West location, it was pretty awful. Server gave us the wrong items in the charcut board. The BBQ chicken was beyond unapealing. The nachos were just not as good downtown. The bread was stale. And the chips were, well, basically Old Dutch. At the end, the server asked why we barely touched the BBQ chicken, and when we told him we just didn't like it, he said "me neither, it's def not my fav." Thx for telling us now. Ill never go back, but the wine was fantastic. Too bad he told me it was never available to purchase at the wine store they run next door. Ill stick to going to Redwater in the Aspen area.
