In the past breakfasts have been great, but having a soup and sandwich for lunch. The club house was great but the soup is disgusting. Both the broccolli and the mushroom soup are thickened so much with flour, it like wallpaper glue. CHANGE THE RECIPE......

“Quality of food is inconsistent”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We have visited this place a number of times since it changed over from Al's, which was changed over from the Cheesecake Cafe. Recently, however, we have had lunch and dinner at the newly-named Cheesecake Company. The original Cafe was known for their cheesecake desserts, and they try to continue that tradition in this new restaurant. Yes, they do have a fairly decent selection of flavours, but somehow the thrill is gone...the soup in a bowl, namely the mushroom cheddar chowder and the broccoli cheddar chowder, is of a different consistency every time we order it - sometimes watery, with one or two mushrooms or broccoli stems at the bottom along with undissolved clumps of flour, but on our last visit they were actually tasty, edible and looked more like a chowder (they technically should re-name this dish to just "soup", since a chowder should have large pieces of whatever the chowder advertises itself to be). The buffalo chicken sandwich went from a good-sized lunch or dinner option on a fresh soft bun to a small, shrunken shadow of its former self, served on a tiny ciabatta that required some good jaw muscles. The Tuscan flat bread is good as an appetizer though, but everything on this menu is definitely pricey. Nachos for $20 + ??? Generally speaking, the portions are decent and the food is well prepared. The waiters/waitresses are quite pleasant, but depending on who you get, they may or may not check up on your drink refills. The atmosphere is comfortable, with a big screen tv on the wall and booths around the majority of the restaurant. It's nothing special, but it's an easy-going choice for a casual night out. Be aware that the bill adds up pretty fast. We would go back again.

“The Cheesecake Company isn't what it used to be.”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

In the NW part of Calgary, if you are looking to go out for dinner on the weekend, you have to make a reservation or go early. We haven't been to the Cheesecake Company in quite a few years and thought we would give it a try. We made an online reservation (which worked really well) for 5.00 pm and when we arrived, it was totally dead. They were maybe 5% occupied and we chalked it up to being early.

The service was good, but the food was just ok. Our kids had the fettucine alfredo and it was soupy and bland, my wife had the cheddar mushroom soup and it was bland, and I had a reuban sandwich which was ok.

The kicker came when my five year old daughter had to go to the washroom. The bathroom was disgusting and I literally held her over the toilet as I would not let her sit down on it.

Finally came the bill and we were very surprised how quickly it added up. I don't think it is worth the money to go here and we won't be going back.

“A very bad night for this restaurant which we hope won't be repeated.”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

We went to the Cheesecake Company (Northland) which was Al's and now the Cheesecake Company? In any event, three of us went to dinner and it was abysmal. We waited for well over an hour to receive a cold bowl of soup, an unappetizing dish of nachos and an okay bowl of curry. We sent the French Onion soup back to be heated but when after a number of promptings it didn’t appear, we asked to speak to the Manager. The bowl of soup eventually arrived (boiled over) but not until after it was put down at someone else’s table. That, along with poor quality of food and a one and a half hour wait made us decide to vacate the premises. It took some time for Management to appear and although she was very nice and apologetic, it didn’t appear to us that a plan was in place to rectify the ongoing problem that was going to continue for the rest of this day – in other words, the problem was going to continue with other patrons being subjected to the same problems. We were advised that the main cook and the some of the staff called in ‘sick’ – it was the first weekend of the Stampede and we questioned whether this was coincidental. We noticed others complaining and even some getting up and leaving. Unfortunately we can’t be sure this was an isolated case because two of our party had been in 10 or so days prior and the soup again was cold. In any event, when a situation like this occurs, there needs to be a contingency plan in place so this kind of situation doesn’t occur over and over again. Call in more staff and prepare for it if in fact it is linked to events like the Stampede; inform patrons if there is to be an extraordinary delay in service and food and/or if it is severe and you can’t produce the food, quality of food and service those patrons expect why have the restaurant open? There can’t be anything worse than having a large number of unhappy patrons and/or incurring a bad review. We hope this is an isolated incident – not to be repeated but we would recommend to patrons, that you check things out before going to this restaurant and/or ordering any food. It can never hurt to ask and in that way, you won’t be disappointed.you can make an informed choice about eating at this establishment
