The Jube , as it is lovingly called, offers Calgarians a grand experience, excellent acoustics and the opportunity to soak in the shared joy of hundreds of fellow like minded people. However as much as we love every single event we have attended at the Jube, we always take several moments before purchasing tickets to consider "the parking problem". Often we just abandon the whole idea. Do we want to arrange our whole evening/ day around arriving an hour or more early to get parking? We feel an evening or matinee at the Jube requires a nice meal to round out the special event but where can we eat nearby that is quick enough to accommodate the tight timeline after work? Which restaurants can make a quick but still enjoyable meal in under an hour? Maybe we should eat at nearby Northill Mall and walk over to the Jube? But what if we get a ticket for leaving our car there? Maybe we should just find a restaurant near the LRT and take the train? But where do we leave the car(s) when parking is scarce in those areas too???
?...... Let's just forget the whole thing and find a show somewhere else....?!
I'm not sure why parking is such an issue at the Jube. There seems to be ample parking available for everyone, but the system for getting into the place is sooo inefficient!! Last year we made the mistake of leaving the parking process too late -45 min before the show- and then crawled along in the lineup to the parkade for an hour, arriving late to our show and annoying everyone in the process. This year we found the sweet spot - meet for Vietnamese at Y2K on Crowchild (ok but speedy) at 530 (a rush after work for most in our party), arrive 70 min early at Jube so we could park quickly, walk to Jube from the parkade, and finally enjoy a glass of wine before the show. The show was great but the process to get there was not.
