“It's just a bridge”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

It's just a funky looking bridge over a river. There is nothing around it on either end of the bridge so it's location is somewhat questionable. If you were going to spend 25M $ on a bridge, you'd think you would get something more.

“Totally out of place and goofy looking”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

I was giving some friends a tour around Calgary on the weekend and we drove down Memorial Drive. They commented on a bridge that spanned the river that appeared to be out of place with the area, so I pulled into the trendy district of Kensington to park so we could walk over the bridge. They were interested in the background of how bridge looking like this could show up in a city like Calgary, so I explained that the bridge had been a controversial project of an outgoing Mayor and some self-styled social engineering Aldermen who awarded a single-sourced contract to the Spanish architect Calatrava. Construction of the bridge had been mired in controversy due to cost overruns, poor workmanship, and the location that did not make any sense. Upon crossing it we noticed a number of different areas of graffiti that were quite offensive as well. We all agreed that you could not really consider this bridge to be any sort of a tourist attraction and that our time touring Calgary would be much better spent in other places.

“Pretty, not amazing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

It's beautiful to see if you're in the area, and has decentl lanes for bikes and pedestrians. Lots of photography opporutities. If you're not in the area don't go out of your way, but if you're close by it's worth crossing.

“Nice little bridge and he surrounding”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

Its beautiful little bridge joining Downtown to Memorial and good for a walk / run/jog across. The bridge is beautiful bright red, pretty new, and gives a lovely view of the river passing underneath and the C-train frequently crossing at closeby bridge.

“What a great piece of useable art!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

I love the Peace Bridge. I'm glad that our city is committed to public art -- and useable art is even better. This bridge is very welll-used by walkers and those with wheels. The design increases the safety I believe, especially in high volume times.
