Got spoiled with a gift certificate to this lovely restaurant- were able to get seats at the bar on a busy Saturday night without reservations, served by the very attentive bartender who clearly is passionate about food and knows his beautiful wine list inside and out. We enjoyed the cheese and charcuterie platters, I had the best steak and what I think were duck fat fried fries, and my BF had the most moist, delicious rotisserie chicken either of us have ever had. Mouth watering thinking about it. Finished the night chatting with our neighbor diners, the warm, bubbly owner and enjoyed a hot chocolate cake with molten berries and a rhubarb tart that the bartender had pre-ordered for us, as they were running out- so thoughtful! Will definitely return and spread the word about this darling restaurant. Left a sizeable tip as the staff were clearly organized, worked as a team, and kept up the intensity all night. Kudos to the owners for good staff training, great food, and impressing this customer.

I adore France and to be honest, was sceptical to try this 'French' bistro. WOW!! It is the real deal! French owners, French chefs, French music and AMAZING French food.

We arrived early for a reservation and were quickly greeted and offered drinks. I hinted to the hostess to seat us at an empty table, but it was for four people and we were only 2. I quickly understood that this small bistro was fully booked for the night and a creative seating plan was required. The servers and staff made our wait pleasant (we were 30 min early for our reservation).

Once sat our server was greeted us promptly. He was incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the menu and the wine list. We really enjoyed his professional service.

The FOOD, oh the food! We tried the lamb shoulder, ravioli, shrimp salad and the wild salmon, all of our dishes were cooked to perfection and delicious. We some how managed to save room for dessert. We tried the creme brûlée and fruit tart, both divine.

This is an awkward restaurant. Arriving early, we had to sit in the window until the appointed time despite there being empty tables! How odd! We became skeptical, wondering whether we had made the right choice of restaurants. We should have walked because the food was a big disappointment. The charcuterie plate with an abundance of sliced salami and ham was a joke, the lamb confit lacked favour as did the seemingly frozen peas and corn. Best thing about this restaurant was the wine list, but who goes to a restaurant just to drink?

After visiting Cassis Bistro last night for the first time, I was saddened that it has taken so long to enjoy this excellent French style bistro. Also saddened that I don't know more than three or so words of French, if only to make the experience that much more authentic? The reputation of Cassis as one of Calgary's best restaurants certainly held true last night. We were greeted and seated quickly and professionally. Choice of bubbly or still water, and no rush to choose cocktails, food or wine. The waiter was very helpful in his recommendations of choices for the evening, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. My cocktail was very well made, the list is short but appears high quality. As does the selection of wines; our $100 splurge on a white wine rewarded us with a wonderful bottle to go with our meal. Starters were cheesy ravioli and a variation of a shrimp salad. Mains were excellent duck confit and a wonderful lamb dish...the menu changes regular and is well described on the website. The venue itself is small, bordering on crowded and a little loud; par for the course these days, but very enjoyable nonetheless. Expensive, but well worth it and on par with the cost of excellent food and service in Calgary.
