“Good food and beers, nice, fun place to eat”
Reviewed December 15, 2011

St. James is a pub, but its food is a notch or two above your ordinary pub grub, and is priced accordingly. They have a wide selection of appetizers (the poutine is good) and their entrees were filling. The beer selection was wide-ranging, complete with several local brews. Our server was friendly and chatty and knowledgeable about both the beer and the menu selections.

The pub was a bit crowded, but we didn't have a problem getting a table and didn't feel rushed. This is clearly the local for a lot of people, but we felt right at home. If you are staying at the Hotel Arts and want a more casual environment, I recommend it.

“Great Wings, Sweet Servers”
Reviewed November 6, 2011

The wings are great and the service is top drawer. The Braised Bison Short Ribs are a favorite of mine and Thursday all you can eat fish and chips is a great value too. Quite often I go there for Saturday or Sunday brunch. Bacon and eggs for less than seven bucks! The servers are efficient and the managers are helpful. A friendly place that is worth going back to time and time again.

“Great brunch in downtown Calgary”
Reviewed September 20, 2011

My wife and I wanted somewhere to go to for bunch one weekend (Sunday) and after looking online at outrageous prices at some of the other establishments, listing items such as for ONLY bacon and eggs at over $12, we have decided to try this local pub in the heart of downtown Calgary.

The brunch goes until 2pm on the weekends and also occurs most, if not all holidays. The prices were great for the excellent meals they provide. I made the mistake though of ordering the Irishman Breakfast ... it was huge!

For $13 you get - bacon, eggs, toast, hashbrowns, a belgin waffle with fruit on top ... this plate was massive! My wife ordered an omelet (Spolumbo sausage, ham, mushroom), which came with hashbrowns and toast for $9.

If you're hungry and don't want to pay outrageous prices then I would highly recommend this place for your next breakfast/brunch :)
