Came from Toronto, got a good deal on tickets and was not disappointed! On par with any orchestra in Canada. Was impressed by the repertoire, hall and quality of repertoire.
It is worth it to pay a little extra for tickets, as the quality of sound is much improved on the floor.

“Attend and support your orchestra!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014

Almost all reasonably big cities in N. America have a symphony orchestra.
Calgary has a terrific one in downtown Jack Singer Hall.
No city is attractive without a good orchestra. Without an orchestra a city is a cultural desert.
You should attend it's performances and support it regardless if you live in Calgary or you are just a visitor.
Visitors too can make a trip extremely worthwhile to any city to attend an orchestra performance, as I did, a terrific evening of classical music making. Dress exactly as you like buy a ticket which is easy on your budget, you can get one for as little as $20, and hang out for a few minutes before the performance. They always offer a pre-concert talk in a terrific embracing lobby, a decent bar, all is casual and even an intermission usually has some activity in the lobby.
You will find it that it was your best two hours spent and you will feel the benefits for your brain and soul.

“More than just a orchestra.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2014

I have taken my wife as well as friends to cool events such as "Bluejeans & Classics". they mix the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra with a big name talent from the rock or pop scene, re-creating music such as Led Zeppelin and Queen. All of the shows I have been to were fantastic, did not want it to end type of shows!!

“We're so fortunate to have the CPO”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

Having such an accomplished professional orchestra in Calgary adds so much to the city's cultural scene - we're so lucky to have them. They make a great effort to offer something for all tastes, ranging from performances of the great classics, often involving world-class conductors and soloists, to pops and children's concerts and informal pre-concert chats to add to the experience. Add to this their very own chorus who enable them to present major works such as Messiah and Verdi's requiem and we really have something special in our city.
