Novel concept where the restaurant projects movies against the wall while you wait for your order and eat. It can be a conversation killer but also a lifesaver if the conversation is hard to maintain. The three of us ordered three different pizzas which were all delicious. The gluten free crust was especially tasty. Good selection of beer and wine to accompany the food.

Since our favourite Italian pizza shop closed down, we were having a hard time finding reasonably priced, delicious thin-crust pizza. Well, we finally made it to Without Papers and it was great!

It's the upstairs location (sorry, not disability friendly) behind the red door in Inglewood. As soon as you make it up the stairs, you're facing a beautiful, bright bar and open kitchen. Our waitress came to greet us immediately, and said she'd be right back. They seemed short-staffed that day because she never stopped moving for a minute. She rushed off to clean a table for us (we had a little one with us so needed a table or I would have happily sat at the bar and watched the kitchen work). After a few minutes, she showed us to the empty table.

We sat down and perused the menu deciding on Grizzly Paw soda (bottled in Canmore, AB) and a Hog Wild pizza and Baby Doll pizza. Because she was busing tables, she took a little while to come back to take our drink and food order. In just a few minutes she was back with the pop, then offered us water, and returned again with water glasses and still water (choice of still, sparkling or tap water).

While we waited, a movie, Despicable Me 2, played on each side wall. It was muted but subtitles were on. Despite being a large, open room, the noise level was muted, and the soft background music added to the ambiance.

Kids are obviously welcome here because we saw a number of children at other tables. There were also a variety of high chairs and booster seats. Though, be careful when sitting at the high benches that run along each side of the room. (My kid didn't realize how high the step is, so he did a face-plant when getting down.)

We had just missed a big rush of people, so our ticket went straight in and we had our pizza roughly 15 minutes after our drinks. It was hot; it was crispy; it was delicious!

The Hog Wild pizza was by far our favourite (even the little one liked it) because of its savoury, intense flavour. The garlic panna (instead of tomato sauce) set off the slightly gamey flavour of the boar sausage and salami, and was complemented by the rapini (Italian broccoli). The fontina cheese was intense enough to stand up to the strong flavours, while the chili oil did not add much heat.

The Baby Doll pizza was good, the sundried tomatoes were soft (not the little crispy things you buy at the grocery store), but the chicken gets dried out from being cooked in the oven. I also wish there was more cheese and less chicken on that pizza, but still an enjoyable pizza.

Overall, we had a wonderful time at Without Papers and will definitely be going back.

Seems like we just gravitate back to this place whenever we are in Calgary. Have not been disappointed yet. Nice variety on the menu, and everything we've tried have been great. Probably not the best pizza I've ever had, but I've been to Chicago, New York, and Italy. As far as western Canada, it ranks right near the top in my book.

Its an interesting place in trendy Inglewood... a somewhat unique take on fancy Neopolitan pizza with being pretentious. Wander upstairs, the ambiance is a bit '60's pizza joint with cartoons being played on the wall the day we visited. More sauce and more toppings than the more upscale places in Cowtown, and all the flavours a bit more rustic. Nice crusts. My personal favourite was the Wild Hog.... All in all, interesting, tasty and worth another visit.

Last night was the first time I actually dined in, usually my husband picks it up on his way home from work. I think we will continue to do this. I love the food but the service was poor. We phoned in to get on the wait list and still waited an hour to be seated. After we were seated the place emptied out. Our drink orders were taken right away but then took 15 minutes to come. We had to track down our waitress to get waters and she seemed super annoyed with us. When we tried to get our bill it was the same experience. I will likely not be back to dine it but will still order to go.
