We sent to Tango tonight, using a Living Social coupon, which gives you a 5 course tasting meal with wine pairings. There were a number of choices to choose from, including gluten-free possibilities, which were appreciated as my husband is allergic to gluten, Each item was individually served with the paired wine. We started out with the seared scallops, prepared with wild mushrooms in a most tasty parsnip and nutmeg sauce. These were delectable! Every last morsel thoroughly enjoyed. Will order this again, hands down! On to the next course, the Mojo lettuce-wrapped pork. This was our least favourite of the evening, in that it had only a modest amount of flavour (the meat was quite bland) despite the salsa that looked quite pretty, but the juices were so runny that my hands were covered in drippings. Our third pick, the charcuterie board, was a very nice selection of meats and cheeses, with additional accompaniments, which were a nice complement to the main ingredients. Actually two of the cheeses may have had gluten exposure (blue cheese in one of the cheeses and a cheese that contained Guinness beer). These cheeses are very good (I ate them, since I can have gluten), but the kitchen should be aware that blue cheese mould is often grown on wheat, and beer is usually made with grains that have gluten). We were able to work our way around these issues, and enjoyed this plate a great deal. Our last plate was the wild boar bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin, with a blue cheese cream on the side. The bacon wrapped meat was sooo good, very tender and flavourful, the bacon very high quality. Would definitely order this again. We rounded out the meal with dessert...my husband got the chocolate raspberry truffle pops, which were very good, and I had two of the shot glass desserts...the black forest chocolate number and the cheesecake, both delish, though quite sweet. The wine pairings were good (3 oz. servings for each course plus port with dessert). We returned the decaf coffee we ordered...too acidic and seemed off. The service was very good and well-paced, given the multiple wine selections. Expect to take some time if you are doing the multiple courses with wine pairings. All in all, this was a very enjoyable meal and we left feeling full and very well fed. Definitely a treat!
