“Very educational and great train layout.”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

The museum is small and inside the Calgary Stampede grounds. The volunteer interpreters are knowledgeable and do a good job explaining the importance of grain farming in Alberta’s economy. The most interesting part is the model train layout that represents the journey of grain from the local elevator, through Calgary, the Spiral Tunnels, the Rockies and ending at the port of Vancouver. It’s worth a visit if you are at all agriculturally inclined and are near Stampede Park.

“Good museum with a narrow focus”
Reviewed May 3, 2012

Visit this small museum only if you want to learn about types of grain, and how grain is grown, shipped and processed. I was looking for information on 1950s-era grain elevators, and the docent was very knowledgable and the exhibits were very informative. They even had an operating model grain elevator and model train display to show the process clearly.

I doubt that someone with little knowledge or interest in grain prior to visiting this museum would find much of interest. But for the few people who do want to learn about grain, this is a worthwhile stop.
