It's an average to decent restaurant in its catagory. For the prices that are charged I expected a tastier meal. Sampled two appetizers and three main courses and they was nothing truly exemplary. I appreciated the sourcing of the food, but it appeared the kitchen and bar were rushed. The lamb was cooked nicely but lacked seasoning. That being said, no faults to be found but there are tastier places around Calgary for the same or lesser cost.

We were hoping for a memorable experience for a special birthday, and just ended up with a nice dinner in a nice enough place. The start was a little negative as our reservation was for 7 and they put us at a table that would have fit 6 comfortably. Having people at one side of the table a little elbow to elbow might seem like a minor thing, but when you're looking for everything to be perfect it can be a little grating, especially to the person responsible for the event. The food was very good but we found the menu a little limiting - a couple of different choices of steaks might round things out a bit. In all, we were not the satisfied but were also not over the moon.

There were 8 of us went to Charcut for a friends 60th Birthday. I had read several reviews & was a bit hesitant after talking to a few people who did not have great experiences at this restaurant. The birthday boy chose it & he's a meat eater. Our waitress was very helpful & put together an appetizer arrangement she thought we would like, and was very successful. My meal was awesome I had a chicken dish. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals & felt they were good value for their $ because the restaurant is fairly pricey. Our service was great & we enjoyed our food portions were large. I only have one complaint, there are not enough choices for vegetarians on the menu, before you jump all over me for saying its a meat restaurant, I know but not everyone in large groups are meat eaters, and you need to provide a few more choices for them. There are a rising # of vegetarians & they do go out with other meat eaters!

Worst restaurant experience in Calgary.
The prime rib was the worst piece of meat, overcooked, flavourless. One of the guest had a 8 oz steak created by a 5 oz steak and a sliver of fat/meat that looked like leftover shards you feed a dog. There are no vegetarian options but they did offer the guest pasta which was likely boiled pasta with sauce from a jar.

They also charge 17$ for tomato appetizer that was basically flavourless tomatoes from the grocery store with some mozzarella on top, and olive oil. Thanks but I can make that at home for cheaper.

And when coffee time came the staff did not want to offer espresso/latte/cappuccino because they said "i already cleaned the milk frother" so it wasn't available.

We complained to the manager but he only refunded 50$.

Do not go here!
