“Best Hotel Stay Ever!”

Beautiful hotel! Great staff! Great stay! On a scale of 1-10, this place is a 12! If you can, stay here if you are in Calgary!!! Most of the rooms have been remodeled for their one hundredth birthday. Could not find one flaw with this stay! And I travel a lot for both business and pleasure.

This grand hotel is probably Calgary's most prestigious with it fine architecture and furnishings and situated next to the Calgary Tower (good landmark for finding your way back). The Rocky Mountaineer station can also be accessed through the hotel, check in for the train is done in the hotel lobby and your luggage is picked up at the hotel.
Check in was swift and easy, we stayed as gold members so had access to the Presidents Club facilities including free wifi access. Our room was on the 8th floor, spacious with king sized bed, large bathroom with bath and shower over bath, fixtures and fittings in the room were of a high standard.
The area around the hotel has many good quality shops and being downtown has good restaurants close by.

Room Tip: Best rooms are located on 7th floor and above.

Room was nice but dark. Front door people ignoired us, front desk staff were professional but not overly friendly. Led us to believe the continental breakfast was included. It wasn't, plus it was 30.00 each and cold and soggy to boot. We were told about the parkade next door but was not informed it was not owned by the hotel and that it was very expensive.

Service began the moment our taxi stopped outside the front door. Our bags were taken to our rooms really quickly which we appreciated very much as we were fatigued after our flight from London.
Quick check in. Great room - two double beds and a huge bathroom. We thought the bathroom alone was bigger than some hotel rooms we've slept in London, Copenhagen or Venice.

Great comfortable night's sleep. We both have allergies and had emailed to request foam pillows and non-allergenic bedding. We got a prompt response by email.

Everything was perfect - our non-allergenic bedding, WiFi, breakfast (great quality food), customer care. We just stayed one night - I would have loved to stay longer.

Room Tip: Join their President's Club for free WIFi + they specifically record issues like allergies.

I attended a conference at this hotel today and just had to comment on how attentive and careful their staff was. I have Celiac's disease and must be very careful what I eat. They made a point of coming into our conference room to discuss my dietary needs and instructed their staff accordingly. They instructed me not to go to the buffet for breakfast and lunch and assured me they would prepare both and bring them to our meeting room.
The meals were delicious and I truly felt very well cared for and the staff took my dietary restrictions very seriously. Well done Fairmont Palliser! Another great dining option for those of us who must follow a strict protocol and diet to avoid being ill. There was another in our group with nut allergies and she too was treated with the utmost care and attention.

I love Fairmont's!! The service is always impeccable and the old world charm lovely. We were excited to stay at this downtown property. There are lots if restaurants within walking distance. The room was small with no view. But beautiful and a great bed and bedding. Sunday morning we were awakened at 7 am by seriously loud construction noises. Hammering and saws. It went on and on so we gave up on anymore sleep. We were informed that the hotel is under construction. I felt it was a tad early!!! For the price I paid I really did not get a good value. Upsetting. I still love Fairmont but I feel they need to rethink their construction times or at least warn their customers.

Thank you Jane for your feedback and review. We're not certain of what noises you may have heard during those morning hours, but we certainly didn't hope to wake any of our guests - we're so sorry about that. We are though, very excited about the three guestroom floors that were recently completed and we hope to see you again soon and have you try a room out!

As part of our May 2014 Rocky Mountaineer First Passage West Tour, we spent two nights at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel in downtown Calgary, Alberta. The Hotel is absolutely elegant. The staff is warm, receptive and helpful. We had two excellent dinners in the Rimrock Dining room and two bountiful buffet breakfasts before our tour started. Our stay at the Palliser was perfect and we are grateful to the entire Palliser team.
