Stayed March 28-29 at this lovely historic hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we discovered we would receive free valet parking because we drove a hybrid. The hotel is trying to go green, which saved us the $35 fee. The front desk and valet staff were very friendly and pleasant and offered us great advise to walk to the restaurants on Stephens Street just a block away from the hotel. We got a deal on a Queen room with a free upgrade to a deluxe Queen. The room was beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The only drawback was that our soaker tub with a button for the bottom jets did not work. However, for one night it wasn't really a big deal.

Had a great weekend here. The bellman, car park attendants are awesome. Upon entering you dont get the same feeling from the front desk staff, they seem all over the map, new and quite unorganinzed.
Up to my room, and it was nice. The TV guide does not work to the numbers listed on the guide, there is not enough space to put your clothes after seeing that big stand the TV was on, you would think it was the spot to hold your clothes. Nice bathroom ammeneties. Nice big comfort bed and pillows - finally they get it right. A true family hotel - way too many kids in the pool. Drinks at the Oak Lounge are awesome - service OK as they seem to sum you up to decide who get some chips and nuts before you order - not good.

I just completed a week long stay at the Palliser for business. I have now stayed at the FP 3 times in the last month. If I was not on the Gold Floor with access to the lounge, I would have found another hotel long ago in Calgary. Overall, the hotel is in need of a facelift for the rates it commands. The rooms on the Gold Floor are very nice but the rooms throughout the rest of the hotel appear dated as does the lobby floor and lounge. The team that staffs the Gold Lounge are really great, really friendly staff. The evening 5-7 pm snacks are usually quite good and the breakfast spread is very good.

The staff at the downstairs front desk, valet, and even in the bar are really not that good and not friendly. It's night and day, which is strange. The gym is tiny, the pool area is small but they do have an indoor pool. I ate several meals in the bar and found the food to be good but a bit expensive.

Beds are excellent and the Gold Floor rooms are nice. If you get a good online rate, you can also upgrade to Gold Floor, usually $80 - $120. So not a great bargain, but a much better experience.

My wife and I had recently spent a weekend at the Fairmont Palliser. As is our preferred custom, we chose a Fairmont Gold level room for the many luxury perks provided including private check in on the pent house floor, rooms on a separate and private floor, enhanced continental breakfast (puts most hot buffet breakfasts to shame), private lounge with honor bar, evening hors d’oeuvres, shoe shine service to name but a few. All the gold rooms have been recently renovated to the hotel’s historical elegance with detailed crown molding, sculptured ceilings and fashionably appropriate furniture. The bed was perhaps one of the most comfortable we have slept in, definitely comparable to the best of our travel stays. All service people were exceptionally polite, helpful and professional in every way. Everyone we encountered went out of their way to ensure that we had an enjoyable experience. Finally, the Palliser is centrally located and in close walking proximity to many diverse upscale and casual restaurants and wine bars along with ample opportunities to shop.

Great hotel. A little dated (decor & bathroom specifically) but overall it's a nice stay. The internet speed is great and the beds are very comfortable. The staff do go out of their way to be helpful.

Stayed for 2 night s over the weekend. Room was VERY small. Tub was rusty with a slimey plastic plug and curtains had thick dust on them.

Bed was really comfortable and our floor was quiet. Room service was great but overpriced but that was to be expected.

I got a good rate on hotels.com so I cant be too put off but if I had paid more than what I did I would have been disappointed.

Location is convenient so would stay again if the price was right.

I spent two wonderful nights in March 2013 and was reminded again how sumptuous these train hotels are. My room was very comfortable and updated with the best furniture. The King size bed was as comfortable as any I have slept in. My room's air handling system was whisper quiet and the temperature did not fluctuate at all. The iPod docking alarm clock and speaker system allowed me to play my own music which made me feel quite at home. The high ceiling and cove moldings really just caps off the luxurios environment. The desk and WiFi were great for getting my work done. Speaking of soap, I really really appreciated the large square of bath soap that did not slip out of my hand in the shower. A very small feature, but well thought out.

All of Fairmont's staff were friendly, impeccably uniformed and eager to be of assistance.

There is a wonderful bar at ground level that seems to be the meeting place of the power brokers of this part of the country. It is amazing who I bumped into that were there for developing and influencing business and government.

Cost is not easy to reconcile. Calgary hotels in the downtown are expensive. I booked a month in advance and got a rate of $279.20 per night.

I will definitely return to the Fairmont Pallisair when I am next in Calgary.
