Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire

Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 3, 2013

We have stayed here many times over the years and continue to return when we go to Calgary. Can't beat the extra room - the bedroom is separated from the "living room" by french doors. Lots of room for families. Each room has its own tv. Each room also has a microwave, mini bar fridge and a decent bathroom. Down sides are only valet parking which is $$ unless you catch a deal that includes it and the place is looking a little dated and some room look at bit worn.

Skip the restaurant and eat in the nearby area - there are lots of choices.

The location is great. Near the river and its trails, across the street from the Eau Claire market and movie theatres and a few blocks from downtown.

This time we brought our dogs. They had two dog beds and bowls for each dog waiting in our room. Everyone fussed about our dogs and I can truly say this is the most dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed in. Best of all - no additional charge for pets!

Thank you for taking the time to complete such a thorough review of the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire and all that the surrounding area has to offer.
We are indeed a dog friendly hotel and I hope your dogs enjoyed their stay on their own special beds. By chance did you have an opportunity to meet "Ben" our Canine Ambassador? Ben, our Chocolate Lab is always pleased to greet each of guests, both two and four legged.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

Warm Regards

I have stayed here many times over the years and it is always a great hotel. The club lounge provides a really unique view of Calgary and is great for a cocktail and to unwind.

Club level rooms are nice and in slightly better shape than regular rooms. On the whole a good value for Calgary.

Our Sheration Club floor lounge does indeed have a great view of Calgary and in the summer one of the best roof top patios in the city. We are thrilled that you enjoyed our current Sheraton Club. We are pleased to say that we will be improving upon this even more in the near future with a full renovation. We hope to have you back to experience the enhanced product.

For young families that need some space but also need to access the downtown business areas easily, this is a very good choice. We followed my husband here who was on business and brought 2 young children and a nanny. We booked a two bedroom suite. Stay here if you are not planning on being in the room all day, but are using it as a base to explore the city.

What was very good:

1) Reservations- Mauricio Monroy handled our reservations patiently and with superb understanding. Even while enroute from Korea, we were able to alter our room requests via email and get almost immediate replies and assurances that when we arrived, all would be fine. And it was!

2) Value for money- We enjoyed a pay-2-nights-get-1-free offer and for the same amount, we could have afforded only a single room at the Westin next door. The 2 bedroom suite, while not up to Asian-luxury standards we are used to, was clean and comfortable. The living room was small and sofa so worn we only used it for bag storage (!), but it had a useful little kitchette for baby needs. The king-bedroom was very small- the distance from the foot of the bed to the wall was just about enough for a person to squeeze through and the bathroom was very dim (I think a light was broken) and a bit of a squeeze for bathing baby in; The double-bedroom was larger and brighter; However, we got enough space we needed and it was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was prompt and friendly, room service was on-the-dot timely and pretty yummy, service was excellent from the front desk.

3) Location- we really enjoyed walking to Prince's Island Park next door where the kids could romp in the playgrounds, and went to Eau Claire market to get take-out often. We also really loved Joey's across the road where we watched the ice hockey game on TV. We were also able to walk on the +15 to the Core easily, and were able to walk to the Superdrug market within 10 minutes to get infant needs. This hotel is located within walking distance of great things and is yet, in a quiet cal de sac so we do not feel hassled by the traffic and buzz.

4) The beds are really comfortable! Not to soft, not too firm.

What was not so good:

1) The property was worn out- we ended up not using the baby cot because it looked rather old (and baby didn't like it), the sofa, as mentioned was superbly worn and soft.

2) The lobby restaurant was awful- we went there for breakfast one morning and it was dark, empty and the food was mediocre. The staff kept asking if we wanted "a drink to go with that" when we had already said no.

3) There is construction going on next door- while not the hotel's fault, it did make rattling and booming noises very early in the morning (about 5AM!). Since we were jet lagged anyway and up, it was easily tolerated, but another traveller might find it quite a nuisance.

Room Tip: The 2 bedroom suite seems to be the only option with 2 bathrooms.

I spent 3 very comfortable nights at this hotel, travelling for business.

The all suite feature is perfect for the business traveler with a very comfortable bed (always an important consideration), the layout was very functional with a homey feel to the living room with a couch that I would stretch out on after the business day was over and enjoy some TV (it is nice to have an option for watching TV other than in your bed)...and the business sized desk was comfortable and functional.

A nice surprise was the indoor walkways to the downtown business offices which meant that I could leave my winter coat in the room.

my only regret was not taking a swim suit as I checked out the swimming pool with a water slide and hot tub on the last day ....and it was not just the kids enjoying the water slide by the way, ...you never get too old to enjoy a good water slide I suppose...maybe next time.

The catering manger, Fiona, was also extremely professional and attentive to all of our needs......2 thumbs up for this hotel.

Great hotel for any extended stay for business or pleasure. Close to several restaurants and coffee shops and easy access to walk along the park pathways. rooms have separate bedrooms, kitchenettes, and sofa for watching TV. No ambient noise could be heard from downtown streets at night so sleep was good.

I'm in Calgary on business for two weeks and needed a quality base given the extended stay. I also wanted somewhere e with a bit of space, and I got both my asks in one here at The Sheraton Suites in Calgary. Been here for a week and managed not to go stir crazy as the rooms are well appointed, in excellent condition and very spacious indeed. The standard of room service is also exemplary as well. On arrival I was offered the opportunity to upgrade to the Gold Club level for C$45 which I declined, but as I was staying for two weeks was offers it for C$25 which is decent value as this covers a very decent breakfast and excellent evening canapés. It also gives you a nice space to hang out to get you out of your room, and serves a good array of beverages - though these are paid for. There is a decent little swimming pool, and a very good gym for city hotel standards. There are a couple of places to eat including an Irish bar, and a more modern restaurant - both are pretty decent actually. The hotel is located just North of the main downtown area which is about a 15minute walk away. However. It is close to the river and there is a bridge over to a really peasant island oath which is good for both running and walking. The downside of all this though is that it isn't cheap at C$380 a night! At least I'm not paying.
