“Never again!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

Why?
-waited for almost 2 hours till our main meal came.
-meals were cold, too much heat (spice), smothered in cheese/tomato sauce;small portions
-burnt toast
-slow servers
-paid almost $90 for a terrible meal- sure they gave us 15% after we complained, not worth coming back here!

“A lovely lunch AND dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

I visited the Broken Plate for lunch and dinner over the course of two days and both meals were excellent so I felt I should report on them.
LUNCH - I went with my baby on a Friday around noon and we were the only ones there. Another party came in later, but I couldn't believe that it was basically empty! We were provided with excellent service and the food was great. Perhaps a tiny bit on the salty side, but still very good.

DINNER - The food was even better at dinner on a Saturday night, perhaps due to the cooking staff on duty and the prices are definitely reasonable for the quality of food, wine and ambiance. The ONLY complaint we had was with the service. Our male server kept touching my husband on his back, which was creeping him out and he left us for a very long time between when we were finished with our meal and ready to pay and get going. Thus, a 'very good' ranking rather than 'excellent'. But still, we will certainly return. Way better than the neighboring Redwater Grille, that's for sure!

“Enjoyable evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013

The Broken Plate, Aspen Glen Landing, is a perfect spot to dine if you want an unhurried, leisurely dinner. The food is great thought, I, personally, was disappointed that sea bass was no longer on the menu. The ambiance is fine. The waiters, though slow to arrive at the table initially, are attentive enough.

I had made reservations for 5:30 and had mentioned that we would have a guest in a large wheelchair. The table was set in a convenient location. There were five of us in the group and we could talk, hear, and be heard! My guest in the wheelchair thought this restaurant was one of the more accessible ones that he had visited.

“Outstanding food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

We had some hesitations about this restaurant group due to a visit a few years ago to another location. Fortunately, our food was absolutely outstanding this time. We also had an excellent evening view looking over the pond. The service was satisfactory but a little slow considering the restaurant was not busy. Prices are reasonable and the menu offers a wide choice. We started with bruschetta and calamari followed by outstanding flavoured entrees. We will definitely return.

“Unfortunately anything but a happy birthday...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2012

Upon arriving for the birthday reservation the restaurant was almost empty and very clean. It took numerous attempts to get seated after some confusion and once we finally got our table had to chase around our waiter to get a child seat. We had researched the restaurant online and were disappointed to find that they no longer had the child's menu as per the online sight and the waiter could not be bothered to offer us any alternatives. We finally tracked down a member of management and discovered they had cheese pizza for the kids. We ordered drinks and appetizers from a very disinterested and distracted waiter who had to come back to verify our three drinks. We specifically ordered for the kids first, but the app came first. We then ordered our main course and stared at empty drink glasses for over 10 minutes. I would like to add, there were four tables of customers to 5 wait staff, three managers, and two hostesses at this point. Our food arrived and we were able to order more drinks and water refills. The food was excellent, however, the waiter only checked on us once through the entire meal even though we had full view of the wait staff standing around doing absolutely nothing. Having spent numerous years in the industry it was glaringly apparent we were of no concern to the staff. When we finally went to pay we waited again for almost 10 minutes finally bringing our concerns to management. He was very apologetic and comped some of the meal, but the horrible lack of service will always be at the forefront of our experience. I would not recommend the restaurant as the prices were a little high and the service was an absolute embarrassment. Spend both your time and money elsewhere.
