“The place to stay downtown!”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

What a beautiful hotel! All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Valet parks your vehicle underground for you during your stay. It's a great location - literally across the street from the Calgary tower!

We stayed one night in room 612, and really enjoyed our stay. The room was spotless and had a really modern feel to it. The bed was really comfortable and we had a great sleep. The shower was large and had a massive rain shower head.

I was very impressed with this place and would highly recommend it. I would love to stay here again, it was one of the best hotels I've been to.

Perfect location, excellent staff, very luxurious in every way. The restaurant Charcut is one of the best in Canada: don't miss it. The emphasis is on great ingredients, cooked simply. The rooms are very large with lovely linens.

We stayed here for a "staycation" and had a fantastic time. The hotel was one of the nicest we've stayed in, even compared to Vegas. Very clean rooms, lots of luxury, very nice bathroom and comfy bed.

Room Tip: Avoid 9th Avenue side of the hotel and get a room at a higher level if possible. 9th Avenue was qui...

This hotel has created in me very contradictory feelings.

Pros:
- Awesome concierge, very helpful in guiding
- Great rooms (very spacious and with super confortable bed)
- Average gym
- Good location

Cons (most of them in the dinning experience)
- No 24h room service (incredible given their price)
- Unbelievable room service availability on weekends (starting with no lunch!!!)
- Very short assortment in breakfast
- Low light in rooms

By fixing the dinning issues they could be a 5 points hotel but without them they are lucky to get 3. Nowadays it is not conceivable that they don't have an appropriate service

Good if you are planning to have meals outside. For business travelers (my case) I have my doubts. They are just not prepare to handle minimum requirements that you need (like feeding you if you arrive on a late plane)

First, I must say that the hotel itself is extremely well done. As someone who casually frequents higher-end hotels, everything about the establishment was a pleasant surprise. The people were friendly and helpful; the decor was modern with a European feel; and the the suite was very polished and well laid out at a very reasonable rate.

Now on to what truly made the difference for me. Most places are good concierge services who are helpful and knowledgeable, but this was a step above. I dealt with an amazingly friendly and professional young woman by the name Francesca. In spite of it being Valentine's day, and her being extremely busy, (as I watched her running around with rose pedals and other pretty things) she made time to assist me immediately in a very personal and genuine fashion all while multi-tasking. I had part of my night's plan's fall apart on me due to another establishment's poor service, and she was able to find a replacement service last minute on Valentine's Day, exactly as I asked, at a reasonable price and in the unreasonably short time I gave her. I have made use of concierge services many times in the past at many places - to include a number of Fairmont Hotels - and Francesca without a doubt is the best. This is the standard of service and genuine concern for guests that the industry should follow. Others take note. Thank you very much Francesca as well as to the intelligent individual who hired her. While the rest of the hotel is plenty of reason to enjoy a weekend, Francesca's service alone would have me singing praise and recommending Hotel Le Germain to anyone who would listen.

Room Tip: Pick a corner suit. Lots of space and an outstanding view of the city.

Le Germain is a step above. More of an apartment style than a usual hotel style room makes it feel more like home. My favourite part about this hotel is the rain down shower. I actually turned it on 2 more times after I was finished showering because I loved it that much. The bed is extremely comfortable. Breakfast was great, awesome variety. Great front desk service, excellent service in the lounge. The trail mix/nuts was a great added touch to our time in the lounge, great beer selection.

Situated just off of the downtown shopping district and close to many restaurants and bars the location is tough to beat.
Very modern and upscale clean rooms. Great design that makes for a very comfortable stay.
Free breakfast is fairly weak, and no other breakfast options are in the hotel. I actually went next door to the Hyatt for breakfast my last day there.
The lounge as well is not the greatest but is ok enough. Great restaurant in the hotel, but almost too upscale to grab a casual bite if staying there.
Overall great hotel, grey service, just missing some options for a cocktail or food.
Still highly recommended though and would probably stay again.

Room Tip: Higher the better as there is street traffic.
