Owner description: When you have the choice of everything from a thundering steam train to antique midway rides to beautifully preserved heritage buildings and homesteads, deciding what to do first isn't easy. Located in Calgary, Alberta, Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum, with hundreds of exhibits, rides, shops, restaurants and daily demonstrations and activities to keep the young and the young-at-heart captivated in the past. No two days at the Park are the same, so come back as often as you like for a history lesson you won't find in any textbook.

“A great way to walk in the past”
Reviewed March 16, 2012

We love this place. We are seasons pass holders. My son loves the train, my daughter loves the old school house. There is something for everyone. We can ride on a horse drawn wagon, view some pretty amazing old houses, and learn all at the same time.

The only downside, and I can understand why as there is not enough space, is you have to leave your stroller when you board the train. So if you want to take the train to the HBC Trading Post, you either have to walk with your stroller, or take the train and carry your little one, or get them to walk.

“A nice venue for visiting tourists”
Reviewed March 16, 2012

The park lets you walk through an era where life was simple. You can learn about Alberta's pioneer history in this outdoor living museum. Gasoline Alley is a new addition that would be fun for vintage car enthusiasts. You can buy a loaf of french bread, an old fashion oce cream cone or a visit to the candy store. Once thing to to note is that the walk from the car park is downhill to the actual town...and its a long walk, be prepared with proper shoes. We live in Calgary and bring our new visitors at least once. It can be related to other outdoor museums like Kings Landing and Acadian Village in Eastern Canada.

“Great place to take the kids.”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

Heritage Park is great for the kids. It's big enough to spend the best part of the day but not so big that you can't see it all in a day. Old time merry-go-round carousal. Bumper cars. Original Ferris wheel. Animals. A working blacksmith.
