We went to the zoo this morning. We dressed warm and brought our own lunch and hot chocolate.

The zoo was hardly busy. We had most exhibits to ourselves. We were able to see the new lions and the africa exhibit during feeding time!

We had our own snack inside the kitamba cafe and warmed up. We left around 2 when it was just starting to get busy.

Dress warm. Go early and avoid the crowds.

I love the zoo. The animals are so unpredicable so you never know what you might see. The new hippo enclosure is always a favorite. The elephants are a favorite too. We haven't seen the new animals/displays, but, would like to go soon. I hear the penguins are quite an attraction.

for a family activity (9 people= $90 for about an hour of walking around) it was VERY expensive and not much to impress. No senior rate and $10 for a small not very impressive displays was disappointing. The trees on entering and along walk path to bridge were only decorated part way up and as if the lights were just thrown on. a few areas were well done but for $10 not value, $5 I would have said ..ok , it was alright and we may go again. we will not be back....we go do or see a lot of good things for 90 bucks an hour. it is too cold to be out there much longer esp with little tykes.

I love the conservation programs put on by the Zoo, the gardens and garden programs. My favourite time to visit is in the winter, less people.
Watching the hippo getting its teethe flossed was a fantastic experience, esp. when you have a dental hygienist in the family.
