I've got a little beagle/cocker mix, and I used to take him to the cramped and suprisingly hostile dog parks in town. The off-leash parks are nice, but your almost obligated into awkward small talk convo's that go nowhere. Go here instead, the dog can run for miles, its a beautiful park, and its so expansive that there are few interactions to worry about. Plug in your ipod, and go.

It's great for an family hike without having to leave the city. If you're quiet, you can run into deer and other wild life. Great place for a picnic and geocaching.

They need more recycling bins.

Lots of paths. The place is huge. Great for walking the dog. Awesome views of the downtown skyline. Different locations around it for parking.

I used to live near Nose Hill Park and went there several times a week. It's such an amazing gem in the midst of the big city. When you're there, you can totally forget you're in the city (same with Fish Creek Park) and there is always something new to discover there.

I spent a few hours biking around here. I am sure there are more challenging places in Calgary to bike but it was a pleasant and not too taxing location. Seems to be popular with walkers.
