I chose to stay here based on reviews. I was joining a tour the next day which had accom booked at the International Suites a block down but many guests chose to stay here instead of adding an extra night at International. That decision turned out to be spot on. From the moment of check in to when I checked out, the staff could not be faulted. They were friendly, helpful, happy to chat and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. (This was a direct contrast to the staff at International the next day who were the opposite.)

The room had a view over to the park (Princes Island) and was a good standard hotel room. It was clean, the bed comfortable and the curtains had excellent block out qualities (much needed after a long haul international flight !).

Breakfast Buffet was very good though pricey if you didn't take advantage of the made to order Omlette station. We had no difficulty in getting Gluten Free toast and with a smile ! Staff with jugs of freshly squeezed orange juice wandered the restaurant which was lovely.

I couldn't fault this hotel, it was good value and the staff really made it stand out.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking Princes Park/Eau Claire rather than Downtown.

We stayed at the Westin Calgary for a week for a conference and some additional business. My wife accompanied me so she could take in some of the sights in that part of Canada.
We arrived extremely late (1 am) after some airline/baggage troubles. The night staff made us welcome and we were quickly checked in. The room was comfortable and well appointed.
This hotel has a direct connection into the Calgary +15 walkway system which was very convenient considering the below-freezing temperatures in early April.
The staff here provide absolutely top service. As an example, my son had asked us to purchase a special Canadian beer that is unavailable at home (Australia). My wife enquired with the Concierge about where to purchase this. The Concierge made some phone calls and didn't have much success. However the next day the Concierge called us to say that she had gone shopping for the beer in her own time when she was off duty and had purchased it for us! I really appreciate someone who is prepared to "go beyond the call of duty" like this.
We ate at the adjoining Keg restaurant one night, the food was good and again the service was excellent.
Overall, a memorable stay and I would certainly stay here again if in Calgary.

We arrived on 6/20/13 to spend one night before our Canadian Rockies tour. We were greeted by Joan who checked us in and had us on our way to our room within minutes. Within the hour, we were informed that our tour had been cancelled. Everything went downhill from there. We were informed of the Mud Slides & Flooding that had started in Calgary and the surrounding areas. With the situation gradually deteriorating by the hour, the entire staff went into a Crisis Management mode never forgetting to ask "how can we help you?" The next morning, brought a loss of power by 7:00 am as the basement & garage flooded bringing about more problems for hotel guests & staff. Some of the staff could not get to work due to the flooding & street closing but, the limited friendly staff many with flashlights, escorted, assisted, and reassured us as the city of Calgary became a flood zone. While our tour company Tauck was busy trying to get everyone safely to the airport, the staff at the Westin were making sure we had sandwiches, water, & soft drinks. We finally left for home on Saturday morning. KUDOS TO THE MANAGEMENT & STAFF OF THE WESTIN HOTEL FOR THE PROFESSIONAL MANNER IN WHICH THEY TOOK CONTROL OF A VERY BAD SITUATION. According to the locals, flooding like this has not happened before. We hope to return for our tour someday - and, will definitely stay at the Westin. Thank you all.

The rooms are very attractive and clean. However they are quite small. It would be quite helpful if there were two fold up luggage stands. My husband and I each have a bag, which means one suitcase has to go on a chair or the floor. This is a problem in all hotels. Maybe Westin can start a trend with two! As others have mentioned, the bathroom is quite cramped and the shower stall is only partially enclosed. The staff is outstanding-very friendly and helpful. We too enjoyed having Starbucks and The Keg adjoined to the hotel. Wifi was included in our tour plan, so we didn't have to pay extra for that. I always wonder why expensive, upscale hotels charge for Internet service while many less expensive ones don't.
All in all we had a very enjoyable stay at the Westin.y

Great downtown location Speedy valet parking Nice entrance and you feel that the staff is ready for the business travellers. They have a more business attitude, more distance towards the customers, For a business traveller, perfect and I can understand it, while the business client is the most important client. However, great hotel. Nice rooms, stay in the newer building would my tip. More modern and new. The beds are simply heavenly. Oh what do I miss thoses beds haha. What a comfort. For the rest everything is there. But no free wifi in these times, personally I think it's not of these times anymore,
Breakfast is very good and divers. Starbucks is in the hotel, just like a bar, where you also ca sit very comfortable outside.

Room Tip: Take a room in the newer building.

Our family stayed at the Westin when in Calgary for a volleyball tournament. Our team was given a reasonable group rate of $110 a night. The accommodations were very comfortable. Beautiful room with comfortable mattress and sound proof walls. Right downtown which was nice to explore but on May long weekend it felt very deserted. Very friendly and helpful staff. Starbucks and The Keg on premises. Nice weight room and gym. Now for the cons. This is a executive class hotel for people who charge the corporate account. Everything costs. Internet is extra. Parking ranges from $19-$28/day to park yourself in a very tight parkade. Room service menu was entertaining to check what they charge. Expect to pay $12 for oatmeal. The hotel is divided into 2 towers that you have to take two different elevators to so if you are staying as a group, be sure you are in the same tower. Only one of the elevators goes down to the parkade so you may be taking 2 to get to your vehicle. When we asked to add another night to the reservation we could not get the group rate and were offered the lowest price of $450. There is no hot tub.
Beautiful hotel of none of this matters to you.
