We were there for "M.C. Escher: The Mathemagician" May 25 - August 18, 2013 and stayed to walk the other exhibits. This is an impressive place with a real variety. Kids will like this as much as parents. Personally, I was impressed that they would have had an Escher exhibit and even more impressed by the crowd on a sunny, warm summer day. While there is a charge, I got the feeling that the ways things are set up, you could get by without paying. That is a shame considering the value of the place.

good museum. Interesting exhibits. I recommend seeing the glenbow to get a good feel for Calgary. Maybe not the best for really young kids but fine for older kids. Lots of local history and persons connected to Calgary and Alberta history.

We both agreed that this is what a museum should be - highly informative, well laid out and full of interesting detail. We particularly enjoyed the minerals and rocks exhibits on the top floor and spent nearly two hours exploring the galleries about the people who shaped the future of western Canada - totally fascinating and highly recommended.

This museum contains historical displays from Canada's old west, art galleries with traveling shows, and an absolutely gorgeous collection of minerals. Be sure to switch OFF the light in the phosphorescent display to see how these rocks shine in the dark.
Also, if you're interested in research, there is an extensive library of archives upstairs. Once I took a grade 9 class there to study documents from the Klondike Gold Rush.

My 2 daughters & I enjoyed all the exhibits & collections-a fantastic learning experience & visual delight!. Our favorites were the Art of Asia, Treasures of the Mineral World (saw the oldest rock in the world!), West African Achievement, Warriors, & Aboriginal Art & Culture. Items are displayed exquisitely and an atmosphere of wonder is achieved with the star-lit night sky over a huge tepee, as well as the shiny installation suspended in space throughout the building floors. Lots of memories to buy in the gift shop.
