Owner description: Every July, millions of people come to Calgary's Stampede Park to take part in one of the world's largest rodeos and other popular activities such as chuckwagon racing and agricultural shows. The event's origins date back to 1912, when American Guy Weadick, a successful trick roper, got support to host an event called "Stampede" to celebrate the "disappearing" Old West. Since then, the event has grown drastically and has evolved into a celebration of the Old West, while reflecting the modern, multicultural aspects of the city.

It doesn't matter who you are, the Stampede has something that appeals to everyone.
From the world class rodeo, to the midway rides and games, to the art exhibits and shopping exhibition. This 10 days of chaos in Calgary is really worth the trip!

Make sure you pack your cowboy boots!

“Always good.”

They aren't kidding, when they call it "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth." Beyond the usual games and rides seen @other fairs, they have an excellent section for young kids (age-appropriate rides, games, cowboys/girls, clowns...). The agri barns let you and the kids get right up close to horses, bulls... Of course, there's also the rodeo culminating in the chuck wagon races. At, they have a really good stage show. The Coca Cola Stage hosts some big names: Our Lady Peace, Carly Rae Jepsen...

“You have to do this once!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

There is no doubt about it Calgary pulls out all the stops once a year and makes a real attempt to give visitors the best possible experience at the Calgary Stampede.

The party starts early in the morning at numerous Stampede breakfasts that are usually a combination of bacon, sausages, pancakes and juice with lashings of coffee. Non of this is haute cuisine but it is prepared with a smile and is great to get you in the mood for the rest of the day. Make sure you sit while you eat because if you plan to visit the Stampede grounds and concessions your feet will take a beating. Go to the stands and watch the big show and buy a cowboy hat to protect you from the sun (or rain).

Just relax join in and don't judge too harshly because some locals poor their hearts into this event each year, year after year. You many only want to go once but it is an experience you shouldn't miss.

“Always a good time”

Highly recommend visiting any events related to the Calgary Stampede. It really bring this huge city together. Everyone has FREE pancake breakfasts and anyone and everyone is invited. Lots of activities at the grounds. Easy to take the train in and out of the grounds. Come dressed has a cowboy/girl.

“A Fun Time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

The Calgary Stampede is like any other midway show in any other city in Canada or the US. The difference however is the cowboy theme attached to many exhibits. The food is the same as all the other midway shows, so if you want your midway food fix: corn dogs, mini-doughuts, deep fried Mars bars...then you are in for a treat. One must do is the ski-lift style ride that takes you over the midway for a bird's eye view of the midway and area around the Stampede.
