“Small, out-dated rooms.”
Reviewed March 24, 2011

They've tried to update this hotel but it's still out-dated. Rooms are very small, even difficult for an average size person plus luggage to get through the door and into your room. No wireless internet in the rooms. Sink/bath area is very compact and hard to put clothes in the closet. Climate control was sketchy. Either hot or cold in the room, no mid-point. TV/cable system is awful to use. TV comes on with volume blaring and tough to navigate thru channels, the delay being so bad. Restaurant for dinner/apps is weak and over-priced, but good value for breakfast. Not many positives here other than close for me to get to my clients and a decent breakfast.

Thank you very much for your comments and we do apologize that we were not able to meet your expectations.
Our Hotel recently completed a major renovation 2 years ago with much focus on the Hotel interior and public corridors along with central heating and guestroom bathrooms.
Our guest rooms are a standard size accomodating rooms with King size beds, 2 queens and the option of rooms with pullout sofas. The washrooms are a smaller design in a way which the shower/washroom area are seperated from the sink area therefore allowing guests the privacy and allowing the sink area to be openly available to all persons in the room. Our in room heating/AC system is automatically controlled which allows you to simply increase temperatures by pressing the arrow up button and or the arrow down button making the process very user friendly depending on your needs.
We very much welcome you to visit and if any questions our team will be more than happy to assist.
Sincerely

First off, the staff here are AMAZING and Helen has done everything a human being can do to fix things, but there are flaws that not even an angel such as her can fix. The building is located next to a mass transit railroad and in the initial room that I had, all I heard was the train bell dinging every 10 minutes. Second flaw of the building is that the bathroom fan is so loud, an airplane engine is the best way to describe it. The gent from maintenance had to disconnect it (THANK YOU!!!!) as there arent any switches within the room that control this awful noise. The walls are waifer thin and you can hear ALL your neighbours. I have the thermostat set at 75 yet it doesnt get over 68 and I'm freezing! The baseboard heater is dead so it is of no use. Having said this a good night sleep is not really a possibility for anyone that like me is a light sleeper. What this hotel has going for it is the fact that the staff are the most amazing ever, the rooms are exceptionaly clean and you are 2 minutes from the Chinook Centre which is not just a mall but a shopping city. For me to want to stay here again, the hotel would have to get new windows (these ones are very old and let the cold in), MUCH sound insulation and of course independent switches to turn the bathroom fan on and off. The food at the restaurant down stairs was quite tasty and before I forget, there is a guest laundry which I found to be quite useful. Internet is wired which is a drag.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. First of all I apologize that we were not able to meet your expectations, you are absolutely correct that we are located beside our Local city transit system which provides numerous benefits however at the same time the noise can be bothersome to some guests. I do however wish to thank you for the positive comments shared with regards to our employees and I will certainly do my best to ensure recognition is given.

Sincerely.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel last April for 2 nights. The hotel was pet friendly and we had no problems with bringing our dog with us. Our room was a little run down looking and is in need of some remodelling. The hotel seemed to be in a sketchy area of town as there were homeless people in the parking which made us worry about our car. I Don't think we would stay here again.

Thank you for your comments, I do apologize that you felt unsafe during your trip. We are located on Macleod Trail which is the main road leading into downtown which is 5 minutes from our Hotel, we also have the city transit system located behind our Hotel which makes it very easy for our guests to leave their vehicles and visit the city. We have not experienced any guest related issues with regards to security and only wish that you were able to feel more safe. I am hopeful you will visit our Hotel in the future and thnak you for your business.

My daughter and one of our dogs were in Calgary for a National Junior Dog Handling Competition. This hotel was our 'host' hotel. We were welcomed with our dog very nicely. Our room was spacious enough to accommodate the kennel. And we were put on the main floor, not too far from a door so we could take the dog out for airing without having to go too far. The hotel staff were exceptionally dog friendly. They made sure we were comfortable.

The one thing I found awkward, was elevator access to the lobby. The elevator is actually down a flight of stairs from the lobby. This made checking into a first floor room with luggage and a dog kennel cumbersome. The hotel staff were very helpful, coming along with us helping navigate the luggage rack outside to the door closest to our room.

The hotel is very close to a C-Train stop. The trains are dog friendly. We made it to the Stampede grounds, where the dog show was in less than a five minute ride! The trains ran often too. So we never had to wait long.

I love what the Holiday Inn brand is doing. This property was great. kind staff, beautiful, well appointed rooms, comfortable beds, flat screens, free internet, fee parking, very clean rooms with consistent housekeping and a well equipped fintess room. Room service was quick, very good, reasonably priced and the staff professional. very comfortable rooms, slept well the few days I was there, it's close to the city center, just a few minutes drive. I'll definitely stay there again, great value, great staff, great rooms.

My colleagues & I arrived very late, we were met by courteous staff and quickly checked into our rooms.

After a good nights sleep and breakfast, again served by courteous staff, we were on our way.

For a business trip, the location and facilities were, 'just what the doctor ordered'.
