“Great Little German Shop & Dining !”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

I've stopped at this neat little restaurant & shopping store twice now and really enjoyed it. The restaurant fills up fast and has a wonderful selection of german foods like sausages, perogies, cabbage rolls, snitzel, etc . There is a bakery section with many lovely desserts , a deli area with cheese and assorted meats. The shop is filled with imported items ranging from Dutch items to german handicrafts, garden theme items, statues, jewellry, assorted imported candies, etc.
I loved to buy the cute imported foil wrapped animal chocolates for my niece and my husband liked to pick up assorted candies not found at other stores. There are many kitchen knick knacks and a beautiful area of hand made cuckoo clocks. Wonderful little dining spot and a neat place to browse after you are done eating.

“Disappointment with the Hazelnut Torte not worth the price tag”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

We decided recently to take a trip to Calgary and the Edelweiss Store.
Had lunch, Jägerschnitzel with mashed potatoes and red cabbage, which was not bad, but would have been even better with a beer or a glass of wine.
My biggest disappointment was the Hazelnut Torte that my husband purchased, the last one of the day. Had I seen the Torte before it went into the box I would not have bought it. I did expect it to be as good as you would get from a Konditorei in Germany.
They used whip cream for the outside of the cake and decorated it very nicely with whole hazelnuts as well as sliced hazelnuts for the sides. They DO NOT use whip cream in Germany. That is just plain cheating. Now imagine my surprise when I see after cutting myself a slice that it was made with what looked like Angel Food cake. Really, they should not bother, it is suppose to be a hazelnut cake.
All in all not worth the $43 price tag.

“Good german food”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Went in family on saturday lunch. Had good sauerkraut and several désert cakes excellent. Big défault was the absence of beer as eating sauerkraut without beer is like having cheese without wine.

“A bit of German cuisine in the West!”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

Good food with a German flare can be found here. The food is tasty although heating it in a microwave before serving does seem to detract from the experience a bit.

“My favorite hangout...”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

Besides being so close from home, you can count Edelweiss to deliver a good meal! It has great European lunch and bakery menu - huge selections of desert. Edelweiss is also a great place to stock your kitchen with anything from chocolates to cast iron pans. They have a section in the store for jewellery - the collection is not large, but beautifully selected. A great place to get gifts.
