Besides being so close from home, you can count Edelweiss to deliver a good meal! It has great European lunch and bakery menu - huge selections of desert. Edelweiss is also a great place to stock your kitchen with anything from chocolates to cast iron pans. They have a section in the store for jewellery - the collection is not large, but beautifully selected. A great place to get gifts.

“So Much More than a Place to Go for a Tasty Meal!”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

Whenever we visit Calgary, we make sure to go a few times to Edelweiss Imports. It is set up like a deli with a very comfortable sitting area. The food is delicious ... schnitzels, bratwurst, cabbage rolls and baked goods to die for! The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. After a delicious meal, it is fun to take a trip through the unique shopping area with its fabulous specialty items and foods from many countries ... Germany, Poland, Holland, to name a few. There is a wonderful selection of items for the kitchen including such items as cookware, dishes, napkins, organic spices and gadgets and items for enjoyment such as jewellery and CDs. One would be hard pressed to find a better selection of fine quality steins and cuckoo clocks in Germany! Although the items for sale are not inexpensive, they are unique, of the finest quality and certainly not found in most stores in North America. A visit to Edelweiss a fabulous experience for anyone who loves all things European.

“Quantity more than quality//restaurant and deli combined”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

I have had lunch 4 times now at Edelweiss, a German deli with a small restaurant/stube in it.
The food quality is good, but so far as taste, it is all quite bland. Unfortunate because there are no longer any German restaurants in Calgary. The quantities are generous, but so are the prices. Dont bother with the spatzle (thursdays) because they have no flavor at all.
Now, if you shop on the deli side, the quality of the meat and cheese is very good, the buns and bread are brought in from outside bakeries, also very good. However, don't buy buns late afternoon because they are quite dried out already. And again, prices are quite high. No bargains here. The hours are good, open until 7 pm monday to friday, & saturday day.

“A different country”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Edelweiss, as its name suggest, is a little piece of Germany. The food is excellent and the mouthwatering cakes and pastries are incredible . Their own cheese cake is fabulous and not too sweet. The hot food is simple but excellent, schniztels and bratwurst are fantastic. The staff are friendly and the place is spotless. After eating it has a marvellous store to browse. Wide ranging from kitchen utensils to cuckoo clocks. It is an experience not to be missed. I see that an earlier reviewer was complaining about waiting in line for ten minutes. How sad. As for the staff not attending, In all of my many visits I have never seen staff chatting whilst customers are waiting. To complain about this place says more about the complainant than the experience.

“Fresh Pretzels”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

Buy a bag of pretzels from the bulk bun section and a couple of jars of specialty mustards for dipping. Also check out the gift shop... one of the best import shops around.
