“Best local casual dining, we think”
Reviewed March 27, 2011

We went to eat at the Outpost Pub two nights running having previously eaten at the Post Hotel's main restaurant (see other review). It's a decent pub menu: a range of burgers, pizzas, salads and daily specials. However, unlike so much pub food, everything was well made and often delicious. We had very tasty burgers the first night, bison bolognese and pizza the second. We chose wine from the extensive list of the more formal restaurant upstairs. Lovely, prompt service and a warm cosy atmosphere made our experience really rewarding.

“Outstanding food with stella wine list”
Reviewed March 23, 2011

This restaurant is a real standout, and not just by local standards. We started with an excellent Kir Royale. The wine list took ten minutes of consideration, it was packed with excellent wine, not just from the old world. Having said that, there was a particular emphasis on Bordeaux and Burgundy. Many of the best grand crus were to be found from both regions, along with a good vertical representation. This was one of the best wine lists we've ever seen.

The food was really excellent, for us beating many Michelin starred establishments for taste. We had smoked salmon with asparagus and a really delicious lentil soup to start. Mains included cod but also an amazing tasting grilled trout. Service was excellent too. Very highly recommended and a real antidote to almost every other alternative we tried locally.

“great lunch”
Reviewed February 19, 2011

had to wait till 3 till the opened the passes due to avalanches so went to sit in the lounge at the Post Hotel (ordered tea and a soda which they didn't charge us for) and then have lunch. Lunch was great. Sat by the windows on a sunny day with ice skating right outside. Couldn't have been more picturesque. Think I would like to stay there if we ever return to Banff/Lake Louise. Much better than the restuarants at the Chateau.

“Overrated”
Reviewed January 24, 2011

We were in Lake Louise for the Ice Magic Festival and had heard very good things about this restaurant, so decided to try it out in celebration of my husband's birthday. We were expecting to be wowed.

This review covers the meal only - the atmosphere was great and our waiter was fabulous.

We ordered the appetizer specials - mine was "cream of assorted mushroom soup" my husband's a pate. Large serving and very tasty. For our main course we ordered the Chateaubriand for two. The beef was cooked to perfection and the truffle sauce was good. The bernaise sauce was a disappointment - thick and congealed like it had been sitting out for an extensive period of time. The assorted vegetables that accompanied the beef were grossly overcooked (bordering on mush) and essentially tasteless.

For dessert we ordered the sampler (5 different desserts - taster portions) which were good, but again none of them wowed us.

The wine list was extensive, and expensive - nothing on the list for less than $100 per bottle (and those were hard to find)

For the $300 it was a disppointment. We have enjoyed better meals elsewhere for half the price.

“If visit Lake Louise it is an absolute must to have Dinner at the The Post”
Reviewed January 11, 2011

This Place tops everything you expect from a 5star plus Restaurant in these beautiful surroundings.
I highly recommend the" Zuecher Geschnetzltes" .The Post can offer you from a 2600 selection of wines and with the help of very knowledgeable Sommelier to make your meal an event. The atmosphere was cozy and pleasant!
