Description: Deer Lodge is home to one of the most noted dining rooms in the Canadian Rockies. We invite you to sample our Rocky Mountain Cuisine – a style influenced by hearty meals made by European mountain guides artfully presented and professionally served. Rocky Mountain Cuisine is best as an artful assemblage of Canadian ingredients such as bison and elk raised on CRM Ranch, sustainable seafood, prairie-grown grains and locally sourced vegetables. We have an extensive wine list featuring award-winning Canadian wines from central B.C. and Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula – including a generous selection of hard to find Vintners’ reserve wines. Deer Lodge has proudly received Gold at the Vancouver International Wine Awards.

We had an excellent lunch here after spending time admiring Lake Louise. It sits outside the bustle of town, and looked more appealing to us than the places we saw there. We ate on a nice patio, surrounded by flowers, enjoying the sun and fresh air. I forget what I had to eat, but I know I liked it a lot.

We stayed at the lodge after reading good reports on the food. We found the bar un-staffed and waited ten minutes for the bar maid, who was rushing around , she gave us a drinks menu then took over 15 mins to return. The meal we had was laughable, any chef should look at the meal he is sending out and ask ' would I be happy to have that in front of me' and in my case the answer should have been 'no'. I had a lamb shank with some spazele and four baby carrots, hardly a meal and the lamb was of poor quality. My friend had the salmon , which was most definately not fresh and again hardly a meal. The deserts were equally poor, my creme brulee was a lapse efffort and the sticky toffee pudding my friend had looked like a shop bought breakfast bun. For the premium price of over $100, this should have been far better. And first impressions count.

My husband and I did not stay here, but we had two dinners here. I had a wonderful pasta dish with arugula pesto and grilled red peppers with artichokes and venison. My husband had a perfectly grilled bison steak. The second night we had Angus beef burgers, covered with thin slivers of Canadian bacon, which were also excellent.

They have a good wine and beer selection. We had a local microbrew on tap.

I was blown away by the attentive staff as i sat on their wonderful patio surrounded by people of all ages. The perfect place for the style restaurant hidden away in the mountains. The menu was Beautiful, i had a traditional burger with the most amazing fries i ave ever tasted in all my life... Perfection. I was amazed with the drink options along with wine list. I also returned for breakfast having the choice of buffet or ala carte. I chose ala carte and got the most amazing French toast with berry compote and melting brie on top it was as divine as it sounds. I highly recommend if you are in the Lake Louise area to make the trip to deer lodge.
