“very nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

well when you go to Lake Louise it's the only hotel on Lake Louise so if you want to stay on the lake there is no other choice but it's very beautiful, very well kept, pricy but worth it for your once in a lifetime visit! my only beef with this place is that the restaurants there were never open any of the times that we have visited here, pretty stupid really because you are out in the middle of nowhere so there are no other restaurants around, had to purchase food like sandwiches, juice bottles and salads at the very small deli counter downstairs past the main lobby.

“"Just Like the Picture"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Beautiful location in the Canadian Rockies, on a blue-green lake at the foot of a glacier. Stately, Canadian railrord historic chateau puts the fine in fine accommodations, fine dining, fine activities and absolutely amazing views. Ya gotta go here!

“Great venue in an amazing setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

The Chateau is a nice hotel with great history with beautiful scenery. The rooms are usually too warm and you'll have to leave the window open at night. The wifi is $15 unless you're a Fairmont Premium member. If you don't want to pay for parking the trailhead parking lot is a 2 minute walk away but if you're that strapped the Chateau probably isn't the best venue for you. Our latest visit was for a wedding and this is a great venue for that type of event. You really get a sense of the history of the location. Take some time to read the captions on the old photos throughout the hotel to appreciate its history. It doesn't hurt that the hotel has one of the best backdrops of any hotel I've ever stayed at.

“Expensive, but good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

This is definitely an over-the-top place, from the tapestries behind the reception desk, to the outdoor bar carved entirely of ice, to the antler chandeliers in the corridors, but the setting is beautiful and you get what you pay for. The views of the lake are outstanding and the ice sculptures are worth the visit in winter. The food was delicious; I recommend the 24-hour deli for more reasonably priced meals ($11 for a thoroughly scrumptious roast-beef sandwich -- not a bad price for a resort hotel). If you're leaving early in the morning, new pastries -- including croissants -- arrive at about 6:15 a.m. each day.

The hotel's activities are quite good, too. I very much enjoyed a snowshoe hike with Jeff at $60 for three hours. He was knowledgeable and helpful, and was smooth and practiced at offering good advice (and more suitable gear) without ever making anyone feel foolish.

Wi-fi charges can be avoided by signing up for a Fairmont Presidents' Club membership, which is free. Once that's done, the Internet speed is pretty good.
