A beautiful hostel, packed full of friendly punters with a bar that serves some dishes that are easily adaptable for vegans and cider. Clean rooms, a lovely outside area, easy parking and a great alternative to the overpriced hotels of Lake Louise.

This is a high quality, clean hostel with very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of facilities, including an on-site bar and restaurant which was perfect for a cold beer on the deck after hiking in summer temps of 30 degrees! The 4 bed dorm rooms were compact but there was lockable storage space under the bunks and having a toilet/basin ensuite was great. Would stay here again.

Get off the highway and head toward L.L. Village, right at first stop and hostel is on the left...and what a big, beautiful place it is! Modern, with restaurant and travel help on first floor. Two bunk beds in each room, two rooms share a toilet and shower (in hallway). Campfires and other special activities in the evenings. It is well run, clean and I'd recommend it at any time of the year. Moraine Lake is a must see (less crowded that Lake Louise - a madhouse of congestion). Since it is so large and hotel-like, you will have to work harder to make connections with other travellers, if you, like me, enjoy that part of the hostel experience.

I am very happy with my stay at the HI in Lake Louise. The location is fantastic, it's only 4km away from Lake Louise. Apart from some noise from the trains running by, it is very quiet and you are also not disturbed by noise made by others in the hallway. My dorm even had a toilet and sink within the room which I didn't even pay for. Rooms are very spacious. Highly recommended!

A very popular hostel, for a four night stay we had to have separate rooms for the first night. Also very popular restaurant - often with a queue for a table. Good kitchen and laundry. Hostel organises evening activities - we went to a talk from native, first nations people. Easy walking distance to "mall" for shopping.

Room Tip: book early!

I stayed with a few friends in this hostel a couple of nights ago and was quite impressed. It is just a two minutes walk from the bus station and the information centre and has a huge property with a small bonfire place.
I've stayed in one of the four-bed-dorms and even though the room was quite small, we had our own toilet, just the showers were outside on the floor.
The kitchen is really huge and perfectly equipped. There were three stoves and three huge fridges where really everybody got enough space for his or her food.
Upstairs is the common room with some small desks for working, four PCs (I think it was 6 dollars for an hour on the Internet), some couches for comfortable seating, a table soccor and a billard table.

To put it in a nutshell: Even though it is not the cheapest hostel, it is definitely a nice place to stay for a few nights, no matter if you travel with your family, on your own or with some friends.

We stayed in the HI Hostel in August 2011 (please reserve before if you want a private room!). Room is clean but very small. Hostel has a good restaurant with very helpful staff (even with all the crowds you have in August time).
