If you come to Lake Louise, you just have to stay here as it's right on the lake. We got an upgrade to a suite which was great. It's everything you would expect. Take a walk on the lake's edge, the views are stunning.

This was a special night on our trip across Western Canada (which of course included the Rocky Mountaineer). Our travel agent recommended us to stay here - and that was one of the best recommendations we have ever had. We were in a lake-view suite, so the view from the window was unbelievable. We walked along the side of the lake to the far end, and the view back to the hotel was fantastic. Service was impeccable; staff extremely friendly; the food was lovely; and what a great night's rest!

Room Tip: Lake view rooms are the best - if you're lucky, you get to see a stunning sunrise

This hotel is everything that you would dream it would be. I can't imagine why anyone would book a room here and take anything but what is probably the best hotel view in the world. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. Our room had a foyer with a large wardrobe. A huge bathroom with separate shower, toilet and bath were located off the foyer. A door separated this area from the bedroom/living area and provided additional privacy from the hotel hallway. The bedroom was spacious and included a lounge suite, coffee table, chairs and desk. A substantial afternoon tea was provided in the lounge. We didn't feel like a big meal afterwards so ordered room service for dinner. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was also provided in the lounge. The quality and range were excellent. The rooms are airconditioned but we chose to open the windows. This was the only downfall. People arriving to see the sunrise were noisy and their voices carried up to our room. Apart from this problem the accommodation is isolated from the disruption of day tourists. There are some lovely walks in the area and seasonal activities on the lake. We chose a canoe paddle led by a ranger. It was an informative and very enjoyable way to see a different perspective of the lake. This hotel should be on your 'must do' list for Canada.

Room Tip: Spend the money and take a lake view room with lounge access.

It's such a wonderful location. The view just can't be beat - it's absolutely breathtaking. We usually don't spend a ton of $ on hotels. We're so busy hiking and enjoying the area it ends up being just someplace clean and comfortable to sleep. I'm glad we went with our instincts and stayed here. Just waking up in the morning and walking outside with your coffee to stare at the lake and the glacier is worth the price. We stayed in a 1 br suite which was perfect for our family. Everyone we met who worked here was helpful and interesting to talk to. We hiked to the teahouse and around the lake. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We chose a 1 br suite. Perfect size for family of 3.

My husband and I recently spent a night in a lakeview room on the Fairmont Gold floor for a special occasion. First of all, the lakeview room is so worthwhile. It was wonderful to wake up to the spic sight of the lake and the red canoes. Also we spent the extra for the concierge floor. First we were greeted by name by the parking valet who already had our keys so we didn't even have to go to the desk, just straight to the 7th floor. Here we were greeted by the bellman outside our room where our luggage was already waiting for us. In the lounge, we had an honour bar and hot appetizers, access to laptops, newspapers, CDs for the Bose stereo in our room, and a deluxe buffet breakfast in the morning including smoothies, fresh fruit, breakfast smoothies, and hot entrees. Fantastic!.

We had dinner in the Poppyseed Brasserie. Also a great meal. And everywhere we went whether it was the shops, gum, restaurants, or the teahouses that you can hike to, we encountered friendly, helpful people who obviously enjoy working for the resort. Highly recommended! And make sure to use your CAA membership for a discount.

Room Tip: The lakeview rooms are worth the extra money.

The hotel is grand - it is big and the setting is like no other (overlooking a lake and mountains and a glacier). The room was comfortable, our view was great, and it was quiet. Food is not the best (call it decent), but there are many choices (6 restaurants or so) and breakfast was actually fantastic. We went horseback riding right out of the back of the hotel - a great way to go through the woods and around the lake, we walked to the other end of the lake, and hiked up to one of the teahouses (serves tea and food - unbelieveable setting half way up a mountain). The hotel is expensive, but you get the history of the railroad and people traveling over 100 years ago. The people working at the hotel wherever were nice people and we got a lot of good advice from the conceirge and others. We recommend it highly.

Room Tip: Lake view was great.

This was our one big splurge on our trip across Canada. There simply is no where else to stay at Lake Louise. No where else has the view of the lake like the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. We had a lake view room. The room was huge and the bathroom even bigger. They just do the little things very, very well. Hand-made chocolates left in our room, which the kids thought was Christmas, turn-down service, water left beside the bed each night. We couldn't afford to eat there, except for the deli which was great for breaky & lunch. What a wonderful experience for us. If you are travelling to Lake Louise you must, must stay at the Fairmont.

Room Tip: Only choose a Lake view room, lets face it, if you are spending that sort of money why miss out on t...
