“Amazing restaurant. Overpriced. ”

Positives: the best restaurant I've ever been to, genuinely. 29,000 bottle wine list and every single dish was amazing (and we tried most of the menu). It's all predictably expensive but if you're going to splurge anywhere, splurge on eating here.

Rooms very nice, nothing special for the price. Everything here is very expensive.

We booked a room through Hotwire, which means we should have gotten the best possible price. It is the most expensive hotel room we have ever rented, and we have been traveling through North America for ten years. We got a very average, small room, with no air conditioning or coffee maker, although coffee is available in the hallway beside the vending machine, only in the morning. The hotel is extremely close to the train tracks, which means the noise from passing trains is frequently heard. To this hotel's credit, we did receive an electric kettle when we asked for it, the service is good, and the bathroom is very tastefully decorated and well-stocked. However, for the amount we paid, we should have gotten a lot more.

We splurged and stayed at Post Hotel & Spa on the last night of our honeymoon. It was a dream!

The room was beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom was awesome! Luxurious bathtub, spacious shower. Our balcony overlooked the parking lot, but it really didn't matter b/c beyond the parking lot you have spectacular panoramic views! Be sure to explore the hotel a little bit and see the library. Such a unique room!

We ate dinner at the restaurant. Don't miss this chance to have an amazing meal! It is very pricey (especially the wine). But it is fine dining and my husband and I both think it's one of the best meals we ever had. We had salads, entrees, dessert, wine, champagne, the whole nine yards. But it was the last night of our honeymoon and we weren't going to miss the chance the spoil ourselves.

If you get the chance take a tour of the wine cellar! Our server offered to give us a tour after our meal and it was the highlight of our stay! We loved hearing about the history and the science behind this unique gem.

Do yourself a favor, skip the Fairmont at Lake Louise. The Post Hotel & Spa won't disappoint.

This property is a study in contrasts. On the premium creek side of the hotel, the views are lovely and there is a wide variety of room configurations including beautiful cabins if you're inclined to spend the $. We opted for the budget side of the hotel, and for a mere $375 slept in a relatively pretty but small room which had a balcony overlooking the parking lot and rail line, oft mentioned by other reviewers. There was barely room for 2 double beds, which meant that one of the beds was slammed up against the wall with no walking space at all on the one side. These rooms are short on amenities. I will say that the bathroom was beautiful, with very rich dark green tile and upscale toiletries. No A/C meant that we got to listen to the train noise all night long.

In short, if you can afford or are inclined to spend a lot of money on a room, by all means choose this property and stay on the creek side. I overheard several well heeled guests telling the staff they would see them again next year, so it's obviously a well loved property by certain standards. A week in one of the cabins would undoubtedly be very relaxing. But if you are trying to economize (and i realize $375 doesn't seem like economy to most people) by all means seek other accommodations. In fact, my recommendation is to stay down the road in Banff--much more to choose from in both hotels and restaurants. Lake Louise was a bit anticlimactic for us after seeing Moraine Lake and even Bow Lake.

I'm ambivalent about most of the staff i encountered. They were not particularly helpful, but not overtly rude. I thought having the door men wear green aprons was a little over the top, but whatever floats your boat i guess.

One more tip--if you need to do laundry on an extended trip, the Lake Louise Inn across the street had a nice little laundry room.

Room Tip: Stay on the river side or choose another property

We chose hotel based on trip advisor recommendation. Had the best feeling of any hotel I've stayed at on our three week travels. Decorated with pine and has a rustic feel, but everything is first class. Clean and neat. Beautifully maintained, friendly, welcoming staff. We are definitely coming back for a long stay. This will be my getaway place. Smells outside of evergreen trees and faint wood smoke. Eat in main dining room, requires you to dress for dinner.

Room tips: stay on preferred side, away from train! If you can't get preferred side, don't stay there. Train runs often, no whistle, but we slept with windows and door open and the noise would ruin your stay. Also, like most hotels in north, no air conditioning.

Let me first start with sleep quality = poor. There is no AC. I get that, particularly in a region where it is not needed by a few months out of the year. But your alternative is to open the windows and screen door and have the Trans-Canadian rail-line about 500ft from your room. Loud trains. All night. Yes, the room did cool down with the windows and doors open at about 1am, but could you really sleep with all the noise from the train. Absolutely not. And another thing there is no little coffee maker in the room. Really? That's such an inexpensive little nicety to add. Nope, must stumble down to the front desk for that first cup. Overall the rooms are small but clean. The location is nothing to write home about. It's nowhere near the lake and does not have a "lake view." There is not much else around except a train line and what can only be described as a service station. I would suggest anyone visiting lake louise should stay further up the hill near the lake itself. I would agree with other reviewers that this property is completely overrated.

Room Tip: Stay on the opposite side of the train tracks

Great hotel.
At first the manager was rude. After he understood his mistake the staff took care of us in a wonderful way. There is a river flows within the hotel area.
Room very good well equipped.
We really recommend the hotel. Lake Louise itself a great disappointment.
