“Inconsistent and not worth the money”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

This hotel is odd. I am only reviewing the hotel not the outstanding restaurant. Let's start with the positives. Some of the junior level employees were lovely. Two girls that worked in food services and the genuine and friendly young man that worked near the front door. The indoor pool is spotless and lovely. The beds are comfortable. That is about it. My $455 per night room was small, cramped and a very odd bathroom layout. The front desk employees were unfriendly and aloof. The young girl working the spa was unfriendly and I did not book a massage based on her lack of enthusiasm. Hotel is surrounded by a parking lot and busy road. I was on "preferred" side - not worth it. Would not spend the money on this property. Did not in any way ( except restaurant) live up to the Relais brand.

We only had lunch here. The food was excellent and so was the service!
Beautiful views of the glacier from the dining room.
Would definitely come here again and would like to stay. Pretty chalet accommodation in the gardens!

Andre and his staff are to be commended. This is my 4th stay at the Post in the last 3 years and it always exceeds our expectations. Great food, Great drink, Beutiful location and quality though the whole place.

Room Tip: Rooms that view the river are much nicer.. but the view of the mountains is not bad if you get a par...

Very close to the railroad so be careful when selecing your room-type. Old-style (Swiss chalet style) lodging, with understated elegance throughout. Superb bathroom. Nice indoor pool and gym. Very good restaurant, with matching prices. A class act.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 'prefered side' are worth the extra charge.

Stayed peak summer and weather was amazing. Paid extra for the preferred side and definitely worth it for the gorgeous river running that side of hotel. Can leave door and windows open (screened) and hear the running water - bliss. We had a view of river from our 3rd floor room between the lovely little cabins that dot the river bank - also part of the hotel.

Service was of high standard expected at a Relaix and Chateaux property - with 1 exception (see below). I noted some recent reviews with adverse comments regarding service, however that was not our overall experience.

Part of the attraction of the Post is that it is small and has an upmarket rustic appeal. Our room was a good size - not huge but just right. Lovely fireplace ready to light up having been prepared by staff before check in. Only critique of room would be the difficult access to balcony due to a large support beam near the balcony door. It is apparent that due to the age of this property it has been through some renovations - and there was some compromise in putting the new into the old.

Room itself has all required modern amenity - very comfortable bed, lounge in front of fire, plenty of hanging and drawer space, safe, large marble bathroom. Excellent hot water and pressure. No mini fridge though, although a phone call quickly remedied some minor requirements such as no wine glasses or ice (ice machine is in the hall way).

Coffee and tea are provided in the hall way each morning' and there is complementary afternoon tea each day in the lounges around reception. Property itself is most definitely worth exploring. There is an interesting history, lovely library, den and magnificent wine cellar - ask for a quick tour.

Pub has a small but good menu selection and is less expensive than the restaurant. We could not dine in house as the restaurant was booked out. Minor issue here as staff did not have any suggestions when asked and had to be given a good 'prompt' to even offer any alternatives in town. The blank stares and lack of engagement were unacceptable for this standard of property.

You can walk to a small shop complex from the hotel via a pedestrian bridge near the pub, don't drive around the long way as we did the first time - it is literally only 5 minutes beautiful stroll. This complex has some shops including a grocer, bottle shop and outdoor clothing as well as the omnipresent gift stores.

Overall I would highly recommend The Post as a quiet and central location to stay if you are headed to Lake Louise.

Room Tip: Room on 3rd floor on preferred side to take in the river and avoid train and car park noise.

A beautiful hotel with lovely room and bathroom......we had a ground floor room on the preferred side and so we looked onto the bubbling, running river right in front of us..........could listen to it through the night.......truly wonderful. Very pricey restaurant.......less pricey pub.
Only one glitch ......our first night there we had no hot water .......after a day of hiking we did not really feel like a cold shower!!!!!!! We were told that they would compensate us with our bill......but there was no apology from any of the staff and no compensation on check out......hot water only back after 10.30pm...........left this beautiful hotel with a bad taste and I would hesitate to go again. If you promise compensation you should not deliver.........even an apology from the owner/manager would have been appreciated. Pity, it spoilt our stay.

The hotel is situated quite a way from Lake Louise itself but the setting is lovely and very peaceful. The rooms are excellent and the pool superb but the personnel are dreadfully cold and most unwelcoming.

Room Tip: Better to ask for a room on the top floor as your view of the mountain stream is much impaired.
