From our arrival to our departure the service was second to none. A room upgrade on arrival which we were very grateful for. Beautiful room with balcony, spa bath and lovely toiletries. Massive hugely comfortable bed (we overslept). Meal in the restaurant 6 out of 5, chefs taster menu, pricy but tasted absolutely amazing. Waiter Carl was very attentive. Superb wine list from very reasonably priced house to ones I can only dream of affording.

Room Tip: Train goes by the front ask for a room at the back

When you want to get away from the large tourist busses and crowds of the bigger hotel(s) in the area the post hotel is what you need. We spent a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend at the post hotel. We made a fire every night (it was perfectly stacked for us daily) and opened our sliding door to listen to the river whooshing by. The staff was friendly, professional and prompt, but stayed discrete so as to make the place feel like your own person lodge.
We dined at both the main restaurant (amazing) and the pub (very good and very relaxed). We also ordered in room service once. Very happy with food and service. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend! Will return again.

Room Tip: I would argue that both sides of the hotel have their pluses. Our daughter loved seeing the river ev...

Nice place to stay, but we were disappointed they did not have air conditioning and a fridge in the room. It got very hot that night even with the windows open. I know it is a ski resort but they must cater to summer guests also. Banff and Jasper had air conditioning and a fridge and they were cheaper in price all in all.

Also the trains.. with the windows open because of the heat, the trains ran all night and they were loud !! I would ask for a room in the back it might help.
Food in the Pub and for breakfast was good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back away from train travel !!!

We had a suite on the second floor with views of the river and beautiful chalets located on same property. It was well appointed. Very clean. A very spacious and nice bathroom with Aveda products. A natural wood burning fireplace (which is nice on a cool evening..). Service was excellent. Coffee is available from 7 to 11 AM on every floor which is nice while waiting for breakfast.
Only one incident.. we had booked a dinner reservation but they had the wrong date. We believe it was an honest mistake but did not like the table offered to us. Fortunately the Chef is very good and we had an excellent dinner!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the river are best.

After a stunning drive down and several scenic stops on the Icefields Parkway on our way to Lake Louise, we arrived at the beautifully appointed traditional Alpine style Post Hotel & Spa, to be greeted by friendly staff, who allocated us a 2nd floor room with a balcony shielded behind 3 fir trees from the large free car park and direct sunlight, with mountain views either side.

Surprisingly, the room was not air-conditioned, but it was nice not to have plastic air bearing in mind the private balcony included a full width wind down canopy and opening windows with gauze screens either side of the French doors, so the otherwise well insulated room (no noise either side) could be kept cool despite the heat.

More surprisingly for a hotel of this quality, there was no coffee/tea making facility or fridge within the room. However, I cadged a kettle and a couple of ice buckets from housekeeping, so we were happy, as my wife always packs tea bags and we could keep our yogurts/fruit cold to start each morning (if not the water) before a short walk over the pedestrian river bridge to the excellent Deli for our morning pastry/sandwich – superb.

Our other criticism was that the beds were far too hard – like laying on boards. However, not wanting gourmet food from the evidently excellent restaurant, the prices in this and the hotel pub ($19.95 for a fish and chip special in the pub!), simply meant we always ate elsewhere.

This is a beautiful hotel. The room was quiet, clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed dinner in the dining room and again the service was impeccable. The wine list was extensive and our server made our dining experience memorable. I highly recommend staying at The Post Hotel. We will return and we've recommended it to our friends.

We got this hotel on a no-name basis when we bid for a 4 star hotel on Hotwire, and were disappointed when we realized the hotel was this and not Fairmont Chateau. We had heard great things about the Post, but it's not until we went there that we realized why.
The service : is just out of the world. The warm and friendly staff treat you like you are the only guest staying there - they are very helpful in providing information, giving directions and just helping out in any way possible.Champagne and strawberries were waiting for us - just because we asked!
The rooms: the rooms are kind of like a cabin style, but large and very spacious - our room had a great view of the mountains from the patio (which is large) and once you enter the room it's absolutely quiet and private.
The location: the hotel's not on the lake, but in hindsight that is a blessing. We spent so much time hiking near the lake, that at the end of the day we wanted some peace and quiet. there is a little creek that flows behind the hotel, so if you can get one of the personal cabins on the creek, even better! they have a little sit out area where tea is served and you can even enjoy the view of the mountains while sipping wine in the evening.People here complain a lot about the train that passes through but to me it added a lot of charm to the place, and if you close your door you can hardly hear the train.
All in all, a wonderful stay and would do it all over again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the view of the mountains.
