We knew we would be in the vicinity of Lake Louise around mid June and wanted a knowledgeable guide - I contacted Joel & Nadine months before our trip and in fact we ended up altering our overall plans for our holiday based upon the advice contained in their many informative emails about the general area and in particular the icefield parkway & the relative merits of Jaser & Banff. Realising our plans for what we could accomplish in the time available were a little too ambitious we scaled down & are so glad we did.
We had three days staying at Cathedral Mountain Lodge & booked Joel for a hike on the middle day. Although the final choice of hike was left up to us, Joel gave us lots of advice concerning the different hikes, the likely terrain, degree of difficulty, what we would likely see etc etc. All very useful. We hiked up to Stanley Galcier, not too difficult or strenuous & found Joel to be an interesting and engaging guide who managed to keep the interest of our children (19 & 21) as well as ourselves. He also gave us invaluable advice concerning a hike to do by ourselves the next day, best time of day to start (early!), etc. He also took some great photos of us on the hike which he has since happily shared with us. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone thinking of using a local guide to hike with.

Thank you, Louise, for your thorough review. We appreciate you commenting on some of the other services we provide (like the advice we offer in our pre-trip email) other than the guiding itself. And of course, we're really pleased you enjoyed our hike together.

Before I had no idea what was passing me by as I was hiking, but with Joel I learned what was really going on all around my. It is as if my eyes had been closed the whole time and Joel opened them. Joel's way of teaching is very effective, easy and pleasant. The hike was worth so much more than the cost; what a great value!

This was our third hike with Great Divide having hiked with both Nadine and Joel three years ago. This time we were very fortunate to get to Lake O’Hara with Joel, somewhere we thought we wouldn’t be able to get tickets for. It was beautiful weather, the scenery was just amazing and, as usual, Joel made the whole trip interesting with the theme of how nature prepares for Winter. He is just so knowledgeable. We saw lots of different birds, picas and a pine marten - a first for us.

Hi, Les.

I'm glad the experience was memorable for you, and thank you for writing a review. We certainly got lucky with the fine weather you had that day. I don't think I've ever seen Lake McArthur looking so amazing. Also, thanks for sending us your photos from the hike.

We just came home from spending three wonderful days in the rain and snow hiking with Joel and Nadine. They helped us plan our hikes based on our skill level and what we wanted to see. They are both very knowledgeable, skilled and fun guides. They always made us feel comfortable hiking through the mountains. All four of us would highly recommend them (Great Divide Nature Interpretation). They also helped us chose hikes for the days we wouldn’t be with them, which was very nice.

Thank you, Maggie, for writing up a review, and for all of you being real troopers out there in the snow and rain. Canadian Rockies "winter weather" merit badges all around for you!

We went on a full day hike with Nadine at Lake Moraine. She was an excellent guide and is truly a master at what she does. We are typically "quick" hikers who don't take in nature enough and she slowed us down. Great storyteller and plenty of passion. Nadine is eccentric in the right kind of way and would highly recommend her for a guided hike - top notch!
