I will make this simple. Take a short hike and see this wonder of the world, you will not be sorry. Pictures can't begin to describe the beauty. JUST GO!

the viewpoint is a short walk from the lower parking lot (the upper lot is reserved for tour buses and the like). well worth the walk. we also took one of the little trails around - really not worth it compared to what you get to see from the main view point. probably need to take one of the longer trails around to get a different perspective

A must see glacial lake for everyone. Handicap parking near the observation deck, whilee others take an easy hike. Peyto Lake is a beautiful "rock flour" blue. Hard to imagine lake was once at the toe of the glacier, which now hangs far up the mountainside.

If you are adventurous and mildly fit you can hike to the bottom for a first hand view. Bring your sandals and walk into the middle of the alluvial field. This can take an hour or two, but don't you really want to get away from the crowds? We did! The trail is to the left of the viewing platform (if you are standing looking at it). This trail is decommisioned past the lake, but very well trodden to the bottom. EXPLORE, it will be worth it!

TIP: bring your own toilet paper, the facilites ran out when I was there.

Take the time to veer off and see Peyto Lake....it is a sight to behold. The color of the water combined with the majestic mountains is a once in a lifetime experience. There are walking trails for those who want to venture beyond the lookout....always worth the effort.
The downside is you probably won't be having a solitary experience....busloads of tourists also share the space.
A photographers dream.
