Description: Our Story Begins in Ireland Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, St. James's Gate, established in 1996, was built and manufactured in Dublin, Ireland. The authenticity of the imported Irish woodwork and fantastic artifacts make St. James Gate one of the premier Irish Pubs in the world. The Gate has a warm friendly atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. Rub shoulders with local residents and tourists from around the world. The bartenders are friendly and prepare the drinks with care and consideration and the staff proves just what a capable & fun group of servers is worth. It's everything an Irish Pub should be.

“Great Fish and Chips”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

recommended by other travelers, we slipped into the St. James off of a very busy downtown Banff - great English pub feel. Ordered the Fish and Chips......very good.
Service wasn't too great.....server took her time - from greeting us, to getting us drinks, to serving to presenting the check.......the tip reflected to poor service. Management needs to train its servers better.
so if you are in a hurry, not the bet place to go, but if you have some time and in the mood for good beer and good fish....check it out.

“Great food & service”

Had dinner here. Was a delicious meal. Prices were reasonable. Server although busy made sure that our experience was still great. Neat that the pub was decorated in Ireland and then everythign was shipped over.

“Busy but friendly Irish Pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

We were in Banff for a few hours after visiting Lake Louise and found this pub in Wolf Street that had been recommended by friends. It was around dinner time and we had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated as a group of four but the food quality and service made the wait worthwhile. Our group all Brits took the opportunity to try some "old favourites" including Irish Stew, Steak & Mushroom Pie and Liver & Bacon with mashed potatoes..our plates were full and at the end we had nearly licked them clean. The bar area was busy with a good noisy atmosphere and the customer were a broad mix of age age groups and there was a large family of 12 on the table next to us with ages probably from 3 to 83.We would certainly return when visiting Banff in the future.

“Great stop in Banff.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

My husband and I stopped by this restaurant after finishing the Tunnel Mountain Hike for some food. The calamari was fantastic, and the service was really great!

“Fun and friendly Irish pub in Banff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

Having been to Ireland, I'm always looking for something close to the real thing whenever I can. This pub was actually built in Ireland and shipped to Banff and 'reconstructed' so there was a definite authenticity to the building. They do have Guinness on draft and several 'Irish' dishes on the menu. The staff and patrons were friendly.
