We took the opportunity to have dinner here when visiting Banff earlier this week. We were pleasantly surprised at how attentive our waiter was. When trying to make our app and dinner choices, he made sure he knew exactly what our taste preferences were before he made recommendations and we made our decisions. When it came time to order our dinner wine, my husband and I were at odds about which bottle to choose. The waiter quickly left the table and came back with testers of three of his recommendations. It wasn't long until we both came to a quick compromise. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the outdoor balcony setting and the company of a very attentive waiter who shared many of his travel experiences with us. Overall, it was a great introduction to Banff's friendly hospitality on our first day there.

Best bison burger, fries and local draught beer. Sweet potato fries also available. Excellent service at this fine establishment. In the past, dogs can be left outside the patio, leashed to the small tree. Not so this summer. Saltlik management apologizes for this.

We stopped by the Saltlik one evening looking for a dry place to wait out a rainstorm. Not being a big fan of steak, I was pleased to see this steakhouse had many other choices. We started by splitting the Rotisserie Chicken Salad. The lettuce was topped with tender pulled chicken, very thinly sliced apples, radishes, grilled pineapple, white cheddar, and candied pecans. The pecans were delicious and really made the salad. We also shared the Grilled House Flatbread. It came to the table piping hot with a thin crust and tasty toppings. This was a pleasant place to enjoy a light dinner on a rainy evening in Banff.

The food was very good. My husband had the Rotisserie Chicken and I had the Drunken Chicken, which was an asian type dish. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. They had seating on the patio both upstairs and down. The upstairs dining was quieter and more well lit, probably because the bar was downstairs.

Lovely patio seating, but popular! Our waitress was so friendly and attentive to my elderly father. She came by with the baked potato fixins tray and he was delighted. Menu and prices appear to have changed and not as pricey as my ski experience last winter. Alberta beef, aged, and prepared in a variety of ways and exactly to your liking. Great Banff location, 2 minutes off Banff Ave.
