“Excellent food let down by terrible service.”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

We went here with high hopes as the place has a good rep in town. My main complaint would be the service we received on our visit here. Extremely rude waitress, who after only been asked to repeat something once when explaining what was on the menu (it was very loud/busy in there) deemed it nessesarry to say "OK, for the SECOND time...."

Seriously?! She remained rude and condescending for the rest of the meal and really put a dampener on our night.

Nice atmosphere albiet a little cramped, and a bizzare feature of the restaurant is having phones at every table. This enabled the drunk guys on the next table to call us 3 times and interupt our meal as they obviously found it amusing.

I have no idea of the purpose of these being there, but it is unnessesarry and just makes the place look tacky.

Food was excellent - I would highly recommend the hot rock fondue meal. However, I could think of better value for money in town.

I work here in Banff at a resort, and I will not be recommending this place to guests at least over several other places I could think of especially for the price paid.

Disappointed!

“What a tasty hot rock lunch!”

We really enjoyed our lunch here and the hot rock fondue meal. It made for a unique dining experience while we were in Banff for the day. Service was excellent as well.

“Hot rock meal. Delicious!”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Very memorable experience in this fondue restaurant. Have you been to the melting pot? Similar concept (except on a hot rock if you want), totally different atmosphere. The interior was decorated with a rustic, dark feel with wood paneled walls, totem poles, a carved wood bear, and bearskin rugs. Reservations are recommended. The food was so delicious with an assortment of different sauces to dip in.

“Overpriced place that time left behind”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

We attended this establishment on a Saturday, with a female handicap client in a wheelchair. We found the only handicap friendly bathroom stall was in the men's room. How this place remains to stay open without access for handicap washrooms is a mystery.
When it came to ordering food, the wild game meatloaf looked good, until we inquired of the ingredients, to be told it had onions in it. Ditto with the burgers, onion powder in the mix. The hot stone lunch comes with garlic butter. A chef friend once told me if all the items have onions or garlic in them, they are most likely trying to hide their lack of flavor, or an uncreative cook is working there. Narrowing our choices down to cook it your own sirloin on a hot rock, substituting real butter for garlic butter, it took forever for our order to arrive. If we are cooking it ourselves, what took so long. When it arrived, our meat was dripping blood in to the glorified shredded hash browns in my wife's plate, and the salad in my plate. My wife likes her meat well done. By the time it takes to make it well done, the stone was losing it's heat. So were the hash browns.

“Great for groups and meat lovers!”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

Great for groups and meat lovers. Great decoration and atmosphere. The hot stones were a big hit and the staff was friendly and attentive. The vegetable fondue (starter) was very tasty. Not very vegetarian friendly, the only vegetarian main course is only available if you order for 2 persons.
